Organ Trail: Director's Cut

Organ Trail: Director's Cut

Should I keep going?
I'm approaching 50,000 miles on an endless run. I can provide screenshots and a description of my wagon's build if you want proof/how to do it.

In endless run, after the 10,000 mile mark the game starts doing the following to try to kill you:
- Ratchet up the prices more and more. Where I'm at now (48,000 miles) a box of ammo costs $92 and fuel costs $141 per can.
- Scavenging only yields 1 drop per hour
- Everyone gets bitten, regardless of anti-zombie windows (including the party leader).
- The average distance between landmarks does not stop increasing. An average run between landmarks is now roughly 2,000 miles.
- A lot more boss fights. Sometimes this means you get attacked by deer herds 3 times a run, or you get attacked by biker gangs EVERY TIME you leave a settlement.

Why drive at all when you can live and trade forever with the snowcone machine

I'm sorta with Mag... There is a glitch so to say that if all your dependents are dead, you can "rest" to get health. By "resting" and flat out buying and scavenging for ammo, you don't even have to leave the town.

Just go all out. At this point, you should definently keep going to try to break a record. I personally won't play that way but if you are doing it, be better than just a meh due to being bored and quiting.

Yeah, when you're the last man standing you can rest to gain health.

The really hard part is the scavenging thing, really. By where I'm at in the game I don't get any more than 100 ammo at a time due to how insanely scare it is in shops and trades. My character is kitted out with faster movement so I can theoretically grab my loot drop and kite without even firing a shot, but it's still pretty tough for sometimes no good reward (15 oz of food, wooo).

I think what's kept my ass alive so far is the Trader Sign. That thing practically generates car parts and medkits, but it's hard to find any ammo or scrap deals worth giving a crap about. It also really helps that once you're out of anything the game gears trades to fill that particular niche. Which is really annoying when you want ammo but you're completely out of tires (don't need em, nvr-break tires) and people keep pushing tires onto you.
no just have rations on high, and hit wait for more trades. the snow cone machine means you dont use any food and inside a city none of your party will lose health. some of the trades each hour will be profitable and there is no penalty for rejecting a trade.

Wow this is awesome. Although I can't imagine your score is going to be that great... you gain points for distance that each party member makes it but you also lose point for time taken so if you spend too much time waiting and healing you might not get any points at all! But that distance is still really impressive. Maybe we should add a distance metric to the high-scores too...

What is the future development on this game may I ask? Is the development an ongoing thing like what Valve started with video games or is this game a done deal now that it has been published and clean from bugs?

And in case you were wondering, yes, it started an "Archer" themed run. Now archer just kites zombies all day while breaking ribs and arguing with himself. I also managed to unlock about 7 or 8 skulls on the way to 53k miles.

I accidentally shot Lana when a bandit grabbed her (and man, I laughed so hard), but the other 3 didn't die until about 25k miles in. Pam was the last to go, she went out to take a piss and never came back.

I have also been using Fast pace for all of the 50,000 miles.

Also, I have apparently run out of "You see something interesting" random encounters to do, as the game crashes every time I stop to do them.

Oh believe me I am with you here. I started playing Endless mode as well and I am in the 8,000 mile range and I can see what you mean on prices and so on. Like someone else, I bought the medkit finding but yet I haven't seen one in hours.

I still see a "bag of groceries" now and then while hunting but believe me on how small the items I find are most of the time. Also, I still have 4 of the five passengers left alive and everyone is at good or better health.

As far as "infected" goes, I have been infected from the start as I picked it as an option and I have had another person infected so to flat out kill the person for being infected really isn't necessary. I am currious on how low the person's health need to be to have it matter as my party is toward the high end in the health range. Besides the time difference on resting for more health, I see no real difference between infected and not.

Buying health kits are around 60-70 dollars now which sucks. But it is fine. I haven't really traded much yet but I DID buy the Solar Panels that don't seem to work worth a damn and I wouldn't suggest using it over buying fuel.

I am holding my own but like the author of this post, I am really wondering if I should just quit or not. I now and just trying to equal where he went.
Bud Apr 9, 2013 @ 4:27pm
Oh that is WEAK. I tried my butt off to get to 10,000 and I was less than a stonethrow and died. I started off WITH the handicap of being infected and NOTHING changed. I wasn't even awarded the bonus at the end.

However, I lost a lot of points for travel time, although I don't see how as I wasn't camping like the guy above. Anyways, it is fine. I lasted a long time, screenshot posted in a minute. I am also deleting the post above with the screenshots of my "half way point" so to say as they are no longer valid.

Well, not bad with three living that long...I think it is the highest so far there and I think I am within the top ten elsewhere. However I would HIGHLY SUGGEST QUITTING and be done as the score does nothing new.

------------------------

Update, I reread the score at the end and I get a point for every ten miles. Well, the timer doesn't help much but I guess that score is a good ending score and I am more thinking it is probably higher than the original poster. I said above as I thought the game stopped counting at a thousand miles and I was wrong.

....although this is not a competition and if this was a real world situation, I would be glad to run a line of survivors as he is helping out a second line just to save the most people we possibly could.

Oh I completely agree with you. If I said anything out of line, it was more of being under ten miles of the ten thousand miles mark and even knowing all but one person was alive still, I lost so many points due to time.

By the way, what was your final score. I am not competing nor bragging, I was just curious as besides you, I don't think anyone else is anywhere close to us in skill. But like I said, if this was a real event and a real situation, I would more consider you a partner even if you are better than I would ever consider competition.

...what, you saved two more people than me...oh well.

I would just be happy we saved as many as we could.

Yeah, I am two away from finishing the list there so thanks for the heads up. Also, what does "Yard Sale" do as I never saw it other than your post?
