Seems like you're being grumpy for no valid reason.
They added the tutorial, but you can skip it each time if you've been through it once, so you go straight to Washington D.C. in a matter of seconds.
You don't have to play co-op or use a controller if you don't want to.
The only valid complaint would be that the game has become far too easy, but seeing how you couldn't beat it before, that might be better for you.
That was never an option in the Campaign mode, you're thinking of the Endless mode.
