Any tips for fishing?

Are there fish that are only caught in certain regions? Or is it just completely random?

It's all random. All fish can be cought in just one lake.

There's three different sizes of fish, so you can estimate which ones you're still missing and then go either for the small/medium/large fish in the lake.

Oh, and some of them can only be found at the bottom of the lake.

Also, I found that an achievement for something was with catching fish...I think it is when you catch one of each during all of the playtimes of you playing this gameset but for the life of me, I have yet to see a squid but it claims that I have had one of those as well.

You unlock the stranger for catching all the fish, throughout al play time. Also, if you fish at the bottom of the lake your gonna catch clams, lobsters, oysters, or a peice of scrap metal. Near the middle and top of the lake are the most variety of the fish and you have a small chance of reeling in a zombie torso, zombie head, or an old boot along with other fish.

Don't forget about mufflers. They are size 3 and can be found at the top mostly. They're very easy to find during fishing, so you don't even have to buy or trade for them.

I think mufflers are the only reason why fishing is practical.
