Starting out
Im new to this game and so far it is pretty bad.
Is there way to get new equipment? So far i have found nothing. No armor nor weapon.
I fight untill all my gear is broken or i run out of ammo and have to continue with my bare fists.
(Its still easy tho, but boring)
Any help ?

start fighting with WEAK monsters with bare hands :) then eventually start using knife, and against dangerous monsters only use gun :P you should be doing much better, and for sure you will find some weapon / armor you will just need to search trough lots of containers

what's character are you starting now? because the best characters to start to new players ( my opinion)
- t1
- Ranger - good starting skills/equipment, and have a good movement speed and is the character need the lowest ammont of food.
- Scoult - average/ good starting items and equipments, an all in characters to me at least.
t2 -
Engineer - bad starting items, and have only a great value as character when you have almost all recipes in the game, although he's good at discovering new recipes, and requires a good inventory management.
- Psion - bad starting skills in utility area, but excels in battle with psionic powers.
- Seeker - even stronger with psi powers than the Psion, but have problems with equipment because of his race, and is "pure glass cannon" and eats a lot.
t3
Sheperd - I tried only once, but has a good psi power, but lack with attack on that, only "cc" spells and eats a lot aswell.
- Warrior - good starting equipment, but have a racial penality for almost all weapons, that almost kill the character as a choose for any game and have bad starting skills in utility area.
- Marine/secret character - not so good starting equipment, and bad utility skills ( open/found/craft things)
t4
Striker - eat like hell, and even for experienced players i really can't see a way to beat it with her.

This is a roguelike. You are supposed to get a feel for the game, and for the way to progress further by playing and dying. You cannot expect that you will get a win at anything but easy with the first dozen characters you start. Even worse, in my opinion, this is the hardest roguelike that I have ever found worth playing (on normal)

Something else to keep in mind: this game is more about conserving resources (armor, tools, weapons and food) than it is about improving your character to overcome enemies. Yes, there are enemies that can be hard to take down, but you will still find yourself mostly worrying about how many bullets you will spend on them.

This said, the way to conserve your equipment is to judge how dangerous an enemy is, and take it out with the minimum expense of equipment and time (food).\

For example, I divide enemies in four categories:
- trivial (rat, turkey, ice bat) These are weak hitters, cannot inflict any effects, and have little health. I usually remove my armor, and kill them with fists, unless I have more knives/gloves/blades/spears than I think I will ever need. I will use PSI if I am training an ability tree, and almost never spend a bullet on them.
- weak (rabid rat, fast response drone) These are usually not threatening to kill you, unless you are very low of health, but they can afflict you with a nasty status. I seldom waste bullets on them, but I try to kill them quickly with a melee weapon. I use doors and corners to get the first blow. I usually do not wear armor for them.
- dangerous - all weapons, but still carefully
- not worth it - avoided most of the time, fought only when cornered

*** I have to run, I will expand on this later ***

I like the Marine,Strike and Mercenary the most. I made it to Floor 7 but without finding any new weapons/armors. Its a real let down for me =/. I usually enjoy roguelikes but it seems that i just cant get into this game.

All three of the classes you listed are hard to win with, and very hard to learn from.

The Marine has horrible utility skills.
The Striker moves very slowly, and requires a lot of food.
The Mercenary is nigh impossible to feed, and gets very little from level ups.

Try playing the Scout, Ranger, or Engineer on Easy if you want to get a feel for the game. Once again, the focus in this roguelike is NOT in the same place as in most.

Also: if you're playing the Marine with guns blazing, you're gonna have a bad time. Sure, enemies are easily dispatched. But once you spend your last clip, you'll realize that ammo is hard to come by in the pit.

I beat whole game with engineer first time. HE can crack open almost any container from get-go, so I was well equipped. Also, play on "Easy" first hundred games or so. And never touch disintegration bays.

You beat the game the first time you played, with an engineer? I'm impressed, even if it was the basic game. If it was a more recent version, I'm humbled.

You have take the worse characters to start ever LOL
Like was said, marine is bad at crafting things, at finding things, and sometimes he's bad when fighting some things.
The striker is better at fighting and crafting than the marine a in really large scale, but he eat a lot of food, there's no way you can pass floor 10 without starve if you have just started the game, no even i can do past it with her, and the mercenary, hes not good at crafting/finding items as the striker, but he pretty much eat almost like her, so a bad character as well. Try the tarka ranger, or the scoult, or even the engineer/Psion they are pretty good once you learn to play them.

No, in starting edition I got to like level 27 and met Neumann probe. Like 5th run.
But I played engineer a lot, and beat game with 100th try or so. Lost count.

Basic version was muuuuch easier. You got good weapon by lvl10 or you died. If you got good weapon, chances getting to level 25 were really high. Mostly due to smaller amount of items and crafting, so everything that was falling out of enemies was food or ammo :D
In Gold version it is much tougher.

having a hard time getting into this game, its so luck based.

in other roguelikes there is this learning process that lets me get a little bit farther after each day by avoiding YASD (yet another stupid death) but in the pit im totally at the RNG's mercy.

am i supposed to make multiple dummy characters, get them to the blue room and bank all my exp and consumibles just so i can start with an OP char.

is it even posible to make a legit full run from the entrance to the end without cheating with the blue room?

most of my runs usually end by floor 10-15 once my only armor breaks its just gg if im spotted.

only got 22 hours playing,so maybe i need to play 100 more hours?

Ha! I did this exactly! I beat it again with the seeker, his dehydration issues are a pain but once you get the ability to materalize food you are unstopable. I had trouble with marine, cant seem to get lucky and get good materials or drops, I have not really used scout or striker.
