When will the PSD format be fixed?!
Discord: Bonnie - Bleank — 12/20/24, 2:53 AM "For now, exporting to PSD is not available in Black Ink, although it is planned for the future."

No PSD, no TiF in a profession painting program with layers?!
When will it be implemented?!

Someone apparently said something about krita supporting psd and tiff but i dont use psd and not likely to ever again after the crap they tried to pull. I have tried over a dozen digital paint programs and while they all seem good i just cant do the same things ive gotten used to in BI. I managed to get flame painter 4 on sale from escape motions but i honestly like BI so much i still stick with it.

It literally has save as 'PSD' in the save options, and when you save it fails. If it isn't supported why is it in a shipping programs GUI?! The only option for saving lossless is PNG.

I can't imagine what a headache it must be for the developer to figure out how to transform the system from nodes to layers without breaking everything or generating files that are a mess of layers.

I think it is among the options because the implementation has already started, keep in mind that this is a fairly indie software, as there are only a few people, the time between updates is a bit long

A minimum standard for a paint product is lossless and layers, or it's a toy.
BL competitor Paintstorm does PSD, opensource Krita does PSD and Tiff.
As for nodes, Comfyui and Blender do too. Or you have to manually export the layers as PNGs too reconstruct the layered image in another program as a TIFF or PSD file for an open archive format.
These are the facts, respectively.
What in the sam hill are you going on about? Ive tried paintstorm it doesnt have nearly the versatility ive gotten used to in BI. The layer stack function in BI does what i need it to do and unlike krita the resolution in BI doesnt look like crap when i export in a diff format. Te dev team is literally a mom and pop outfit and i think paintstorm is made by one guy too. Paintstorm has some useful functions and built in timelapse but id rather wait till BI adds that in an update or future version than try using anything else.

Exporting to PSD is broken, it pays to read original post.
If BI doesnt have it as an option how can it be broken. Its not photoshop its for digital painting. Im not entirely sure what youre trying to use it for.

They have said that they are going to implement it, the fact that it is not yet means just that, that it is not yet in place.

That you said what you said about nodes into layers, shows that you have never programmed anything in your life. That's why you don't realize how complicated it can be to implement even a tiny change.

It is fine and it is the right thing to demand quality of the product you buy. If you look at the discord, it was me to whom they answered that quote you put in the post. But we are dealing with people, not bots.

It "has" that option, when you click on save as... it gives you the option to save as psd, which will always give an error.

It is usual that many people use different software for the same drawing, or want to share the file with other people. The PSD file at this point is a universal file, as the OP said, practically all programs have that option. Personally I think it loses a bit the sense to export as PSD with black ink, because you would lose in the process all the uniqueness of this program, you would have simply combined images (so that the output of the image is not lost).
Ok inthink i see what hes saying inthought i missed out on an update recently but basically even if it says you can save as psd it ssimply doesnt work. Ok fair enough. Its prob on their to do list but im not sure complaining "why isnt thisnmore like photoshop" contributes anything its not supposed to be. I think the 2023 update just barely added wand and its much appreciated but i dont use photoshop i use other stuff. Theres prob other programs that do psd better but im interrested in drawing and painting.

BL is closed sourced so I don't need to 'realise' how complicated it can be to implement.
It's a product that is to be sold, and work. Your point would be valid if it is Krita.
Like warriorofthewind your making major assumptions on what do and don't know. lol
Please continue on with your condescension.

Are you the same goober who made a comment on one of my posts then deleted it? Because i got a notification about someone whinging about psd and tiff formats but couldnt find the comment. You want something with photosh** features, use csp or affinity or one of those new fangled programs. Try gimp i heard they have a new update coming out.

You gush about how much better paintstorm is but when i tried using gradients in brushes they didnt behave nearly as well as BI. They got loads of nice brushes and presets but it just doesnt work for me. If BI doesnt work for you, just use something else. Not all paint programs were created equal. Pd howler looks nice but ui very cluttered and difficult to navigate. Comicado/jugipaint are basically abandonware. Medibang looks nice but lots of mixed reviews. Open canvas doesnt even have gradient brush options.

Devs said there was no update planned for 2024 so maybe therell be something for 2025. If psd and tiff are dealbreakers dont buy it and if you already own or are using the demo then just try working around it.

Nobody has ever said such claims, PSD save bug is real, Other people acknowledge the format. I haven't used PS for years, I use Affinty Photo these days.

That is an ethic slur where I come. You from you fail to know your on a public forum, now your making personal attacks, reported and blocked.
Were i come from it means peanut butter peanut or a very dumb person. Ask Michael Berry local Houston radio host. Ok you just come off as a troll trying to attack the devs. Anyone who uses that sort of language isnt being sincere in their concerns. "Omg heavens to betsy she used a slur oohoohooo my delicatefeelings" grow a pair.
