Windows on ARM Compatibility/Request
I've been using Windows on ARM for all creative applications (except music composition) since the Surface Pro X first released. It's also my work computer for software/data engineering. It was a struggle at first, but it rather easy these days, and has been for a few years. That said, I can't draw without doing so directly on the screen anymore, so my surface is my exclusive tablet for drawing. Unfortunately, Black Ink is incompatible.

WoA and the user base has grown significantly, especially in the arts. I can get Black Ink to run if I use the 2020 non-avx version, but it crashes with more complex things, especially when hitting the GPU. Could we get some compatibility support for this? The Snapdragon X Plus/Elite users have a new x64/86 emulation layer that nearly eliminates compatibility issues and is extremely lightweight, but it's not flawless. Same goes Apple's Rosetta (though I find Rosetta to crash far more often, but it may be that my macbook is on the older M1 Pro).

I'm aware of the 2023 version, but I don't want to buy it, even at $5, only to find out that the software is still useless to me. If anyone knows that it is actually compatible, I'd be more than happy to take the reduced risk and get it. Regardless, ARM support would be nice.

Hi,

You can try the current version of BI by downloading the version here[blackink.bleank.com].
But if the emulator doesn't support AVX instructions it will be difficult.

I was planning to buy a surface pro for art on a PC. It would be great if they would compile a version black ink for it!

I use a Surface Pro 8 for pretty much anything - while it can get by for many different projects, the integrated GPU is a complete pain for doing anything even remotely complex. I've had my eye on a dell xps or the surface studio if I knew I was going to get back into all of this.
