Am I screwed at trying to win the card game now?

So, I have been going back and re-visintg areas trying to find things I missed, and I have collected a lot of stars and cards, but since these were early areas, most of them are low-level cards. Now, I am trying to win at the hardest level in the card game to get the achievement and I can't! The problem is that ^%$&#$^%$ random rule.

I remember I had the same damn issue in Final Fantasy 8, once I had a truchload of cards I began to lose every game because NPCs would only have a small set amout of cards, most of them good, while since I had a ton of low-level cards it always randomely picked from a stack of those and rarely from one of my higher level cards. It got to the point where I had to pay an NPC to abolish that annoying random rule.

I am having the exact same issue here, half the cards it picks for me are low-level starting monster cards with values of 2-3 on the sides, while the card player always has at least one if not several star-level cards, and almost none of his are below a level 5 or 6 on every side. Half the games I lost were literally unwinnable from the beginning due to the cards it made me draw.

Is this intention and there some trick or something to winning the championship mode? Or do I just have to keep hitting retry and pray to the random number god?

What I did was I got every card, it is alot of work and unnecessary though, only for if you want the achievement, but as for winning, I recommend getting cards like "Zephyros", "Babamut", and "Dopple", those are the (In my opinion) the best cards for winning, because they are strong, and you have higher chances of being able to use them in the game,

I guess I was pretty lucky then. I picked up every card untill I reached the Aogai, and then I lost once on easy, because I didn't understand the game, and then won everytime untill champion. I had some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ cards as well, but I tried to use the lowest possible to beat his cards and attack from the right side.

The AI ain't smart, so with some luck and 2 decent cards it should be very possible with a bad deck, I think.
