OpenGL version not supported: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080
I did not play the game for a very long time and thought it whould be fun to play again.

However, mentioned issue occurs which forces me to start the game in safe mode (which has a huge frame rate drop).

I got Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card with the latest (game ready) driver installed. OS Windows 10 64bit.

What's the issue?

I have a GTX 1080 and no problems with the game at all. The OpenGL error is typically due to your drivers being out of date.

Driver installation:
GefForce Graphics Driver 442.19 (also worked with previous 441.41)
PhysX 9.19.0218
HD Audio (Nvidia) Not installed

Game Version:
the_sneezer_1.02

Check your driver version and verify your game files, also if you've ever had mods and you haven't played in a while, you might want to manually remove them

Thanks for (not fully) reading my post. I am on 442.19 (most recent at the time of posting).

I did read your post, you also didn't list a number. A great many people claim to be "on the latest drivers" and simply aren't. By listing the actual driver number I'm on that works (for me) you can at least compare if that's the issue (or not)

Since you are on the latest driver, then you need to look for another solution. But as I've said, I have the same graphics card and no issues with the game.

Since you are on the same driver, you didn't answer if you tried to verify your game files

And after that reinstall the latest dx version and make sure nothing there is corrupt

Don't expect people to read your mind, trouble shooting is best done in a logical step by step process of accurately checking each possible thing

I've done enough tech support that when someone tells you "they turned the computer on and it isn't working" your first questions need to verify if they know the difference between the computer and monitor power buttons, or if they even have the thing plugged in correctly.

Ever tell someone to reboot and then spend 20 minutes trying to explain that toggling the monitor on and off is not rebooting? I've had that discussion, it's not fun.

Yeah my bad. I verified the game files, no problems with that.

Anyway thanks for clarifing that the graphics card won't be the problem. I posted the issue on the pdx forums, they take a look. I'll re post their answer here.

Did you try and update your dx version? I've had a windows update break that in the past, screwed up several games at once

The issue was that Prison Architect did not recognize the nvidia driver.

I reinstalled the driver by

1. deinstalling the driver
2. rebooting the pc
3. installing the driver again

Now the game starts without any errors.

Solution post from the pdx forums https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/opengl-version-not-supported-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080.1323170/#post-26236094
