Make sure you haven't set the kennel to staff only in deployment; for some reason the dogs no longer count as staff in A17

I.ve had this issue since the dogs were introduced. multiple kennels is not the issue as i have had it happen with a single kennel. Not sure what is causing it. I just end up sacking the ones that are bugged. Every thing is fine then for a few days or weeks and then it happens again.

The problem is that your kennel is staff only dogs won't go in staff Only rooms I had the same problem

The problem is the dog handlers are dropping the dogs off as soon as they enter the kennel, but the dog isn't always inside the kennel and since it isn't inside the kennel it gets stuck. Extending the kennel so the dogs are fully inside unstucks the dogs, but anything you add take away because they will just drop the dogs off outside the new edge of the kennel.

build a kennal, 5x5 enclosed area, then find the kennal in the items menu and put one in your kennal area.

Ive had that same problem but i think i figured it out, everything was working fine then a prisoner who was cleaning the floor tried to escape through my kennel so i set it to staff only then my dogs would sit at the door, so i switched it back and everything was fine. i tested it acouple of times to see if that was a glitch and it is repeatable so check to see if that room isnt staff only

Im having the same issue - 2 kennels - 7x7 - all enclosed - outside - but yet i have 3 dogs at the door not sleeping. Have tried unzone/rezone and staff only/all staff and no change. have tried extending as mentioned above but didnt seem to make a difference
Update - just noticed that if you lock the door they are near they will walk to another door... straight past their crate

Knock down the existing walls and doors, and rebuild.

My kennel was indoors, update 17 broke my dogs, but that did the trick.

Set the kennel on Shared, not on any other zone.

Yep, this seems to work.

I've had this issue on three prisons now and I lay down deployment zones before I hire staff, so this didn't even cross my mind.

Slightly inconvenience bug but a bug nevertheless that should be fixed soon.

Thanks, Brandjuh!

my dogs got stuck too right at the door. i had to demolish the room and make it outdoor. use grass, fence/brick, and a staff door now it works. i think the dogs prefer sleeping outdoors.

Yes, setting kennels as staff only is causing this issue because in the materials.txt file there is typo. Dogs are assigned as "stafff", not "staff", so they cant go in staff-only areas. My sandbox mod fixes that, do does another mod that is specifically for that, or you could just do it yourself

I was having issues with my dogs also. 2 things fixed it for me.

1 ) moved my kennel to another location (both in doors),
and ...
2 ) some how... a few random "blocks" got placed as a kennel room, just one block here or there seems even if under/in walls - it can cause them to hang up. I know I didn't plant 2 of them tho, they where single blocks one was in the offices ( roughly 20 blocks from my kennels) and another was in the street at the bottm right corner almost.. once I removed them and moved my kennel its back to working dogs.

Not saying this will fix, but this was my issue I had I just wanted to share.
