[Solved] Prisoners not going to their cells after they entire my prison?
Hi so i have created a prison and have a bunch of cells, well over 16 to be honest and only have 16 prisoners so far in my prison, however none of them go to their cells. I have tried clicking on my prisoner then right clicking on an empty cell, at some point the guard will usher a few inmates to cells but usually they tend to take them into an already occupied cell and throw the inmate out that was in it and just leave him in my prison. Am i doing something wrong or is this just a bug ?

Also it seems like my guards really like to stay in certain areas and do not really patrol. ie. multiple guards just standing in the canteen or the yard even when no inmates occupy it.

Thanks for the help in advance!!

Edit: My maximum prisoner capacity is 4 though, would that have something to do with it ? and how would i increase my maximum capacity?

Did you designate the cell rooms as CELLS?

If your max capacity is 4, then you haven't built proper cells.
Every cells needs to be at least 2x3, have a bed, and a working toilet. Then you need to mark the cells using the room function. When that's done, your guards will escort cell-less prisoners to available cells.

Here are two pictures to show you some of my cells, is what ive been doing is using the room function and then dragging it to make large cells and dividing them by walls ie. 2x19 then dividing it every 3 by wall to make multiple cells, does that not work ? That would make sense why they wouldn't all be allowed into cells.

Can't do it that way. If you designate first, then subdivide, it's all still one cell.
If you do it the other way, build walls, then click and drag over all the area, then you get individual cells.

Erase the cells and reassign and you'll be fine.

See how the word CELL overlaps the walls? You don't want that. You want lots of little "CELL"s

and Thanks for all the help!

Right click and drag over the area after you hit the Rooms tab. No specific room needs to be selected. Then select Cell and mark the rooms.

OCD is the worst with great games. Why do people like me who have OCD play games that drive their OCD crazy?

hahha yeah i admit that my first jail was utter crap, since i now know how to actually play im going to redo it and make it much better, and hopefully prevent any inner OCD screams

Forget all that. It's your prison. Make it however you want.
The game does reward efficiency though.

Honestly id rather have a more realisitc looking and feeling prison then just random areas slapped on top of eachother, would make the game feel more fun

However that time will come, first, i must learn

Never a truer word spoken. Take your time, learn as much as possible, then & only then go ahead & build the prison of your dreams & allow your OCD to run wild :prisoner:

Took me a fair few attempts to get the standards that I use in my prison designs these days.

I've found myself trying to make some fortress like layout a lot of times when trying to make a prison.

The very middle having the holding cell.. and then the cells surrounding it, followed by what ever other rooms are needed, and a network of single spaced hallways built into the walls for guards V:

Someday.. I will make a prison to rival the likes of superjail.
