Prisoners bust out when a hole is in the wall

I was expanding on my prison and so I locked all the prisoners inside their cells. When I built the new foundation it didn't replace the fence with walls so I tore down the fence to replace it with brick (cost me extra money). All the prisoners started pounding on their cell doors and breaking out of their cells.

How is this possible. I don't know anybody that bar break real cell doors down. Also, why are they rioting... they are behind closed doors. Also, how do they know that I was doing that work? Also, if this is the case... why don't they riot when I leave the doors to the outside on open?

Lol, I had this happen when I first started. It was total chaos. I learned from the forums to place the free fence around the whole map. So when you build they still have no way to get out and will not riot or tear up their cells.

It's not a bug, it's the AI not being fully sophisticated yet. As for them breaking the bars down: eh. Game would sure be boring if prisoners never had a chance of moving their riot once I locked the doors. It's either doors with HP or no more manual control of doors, and the loss of manual control of doors would be a pain.

I have to agree GC13. It is absolutely funny when they escape to riot from their cells. But I do know that wrapping the free fence around the whole of the map will stop them from escaping from their jails when building. But I have had them riot and break out of their cells because (silly me) forgot to label their showers ....well showers!

I hear that. I agree... it would be less fun. The ability to lock the entire block without starting the alarm that will not stop would be nice too. Like just A block or B block. Also letter designations for blocks of cells would be neato too... just my two cents.

When they can feel a draft they start to go crazy. Be more careful in the future.

I like to start my game with fencing off the entirety of the small map. It saves a lot of time in the future and you have more than enough time to do that and get your first few buildings up before the prisoners arrive. You can also replace the fence with walls later and it won't cause prisoners to riot while you're dismantling the fence/building the walls as I guess the game AI assumes you're just overwriting it, which you are pretty much.

-peeks in- I use cheats and use a medium map. I disable water since there seems to be an issue of lag with the bigger maps. I also use the money cheat so I can build (Hi I'm gamekitten and I'm a buildoholic!).

I also do not accept prisoners until the basic needs are built. So sometimes I don't get any prisoners until the 4th day..So many playable styles for this game..lol

gamekitten, if I may ask how do you disable the water textures? I'm running on a pretty crappy laptop (desktop broke) so I'm getting pretty bad lag issues at 100 model prisons. Looking for any way to lessen the load.

You go to menu with esc button. Use open save file..pick the file with the name of your prison open the text file..There at the top should be a list..find enablewater and it should say true..just replace true with false.

This will let you build without waterpump and pipes. Also since there is a memory leak, do not paint all terrain and also save and shut down your game and reload.

Its in the prison save, water from false to true or something I saw somewhere. I need to do that myself.

Btw kitten all I did was modify the grants file and had it give me 100k + 100K for the cell block A, and another 100k + 100k for the administration xD. Not really cheating, just the government was more willing to give me alot more cash LOL.
