How to have 2 power stations
Hey guys. Is there any way to have more than one power station? I've been trying to put two but with no success so far. As soon as I switch one on, both go off.

I've already have the first one with 16 capacitors so that's out of the equation.

Is there any way to put two? (without having two separate electric grids).

You can't connect 2 power grids into 1. i have tried and got the same result. i actually have 3 seperate grids. (One is dedicated to running my cookers haha)

I think the generators have a 12 capacitor limit? i could be wrong

I guess I'll have to make 2 then, but I think this is something they should be fixing.

I personally tried to put 4 capacitors on the corners diagonally and those work too.

Anyways, thanks for your help.

No problem. It can get a bit messy trying to work with 2 seperate grids (or more) but its fairly easy to re-route cables to power different sections of the prison when everyones sleeping :)

Not creepy at all

I tend to have one grid powering 1/2 of something and another one powering the other half.

If one blows or goes off, no-where is without lights or power for the doors etc.

If you work with large amounts of power consuptiom, like lots of workshops or huge kitchen (40+ cookers), you'll think about getting 1 power station working with workshops, 1 - with kitchen/laundry, 1 - with lights and all minor stuff.

Problems begin, when you have to get 4th power station. And no place is left. And all your guests are angry.

Not messy at all... Just plan in zones. I'll have one grid for a cells blocks only and another for everything else.

I have 8 power stations, one for the workshops, one for the canteen, one for the kitchen and the others for various cell blocks and rooms. Just watch the colors in the utilities view when connecting. I've noticed that when a power line from another power station comes near, the others retreat. I've never had a problem with the power.

You can just connect everything up and put switches in to stop short circuiting.

I never have a problem routing power for multiple power stations. But yeah I like the idea of using switches for the times when you are re-routing. I wouldn't want to leave large sections dark like that though, so it will take some testing.

And yeah you can use 16 capacitors. I verified that yesterday with testing on a power station on the edge of overcapacity.

EASY making two power stations DONT LET THE CABLES TOUCH EACH OTHER

I would recommend to build a second one when the first one is full of capacitors and there two bars left as the power can become a problem, if you dont act it will bit you in your ass as a prison with no power for even a hour can cause problems for excamples jail doors need to be manually opened for workers, chefs can't prepare food and will struggle at high demand also some legendary prison which are suppressed by cctv will rekt the place causing a riot because you couldn't make a new power station

My current prison needs two generators just for the lights alone. Power grids becomes a much bigger issue with larger prisons. I prefer seperate grids opposed to using switches since flipping the wrong switch at the wrong time can cause a large blackout. Which can be quite disruptive.
