How do I assign prisoners to work?

I have built a workshop and a laundry, I have set a couple of hours as work a day but nothing happens. Do i need to assign them somehow?

You do indeed need to assign them!

You need to unlock Bureaucracy (by hiring a warden) and then hire a Chief so you can unlock Deployment. Once you can use the Deployment screen, you click on Jobs and then click on the area you want them to work and from there you can choose how many people work there!

I have everything you said but it will not let me put them to work, i can set them to clean but not the workshop, I have power, a saw, a press and tables, but still wont let me. Anyone know why? (Its the same for laundry)

If you've properly built your working rooms, they will be green on the Jobs screen. If they are still grey, you've missed something. Most likely the rooms aren't properly contained.

To work in the workshop (Saw & press) They have to pass the workshop safety program, and then to use the Carpentry table, they need additional carpentry training after passing the safety program

They moved it so that it is under the "Logistics" tab now.

make sure you have work time set in your Regime! it will allow the prisoners to actully work!
