Metal detectors
It looks like some prisoners slip past the side of the Metal Detector and don't actually go through it. Happens mostly at congested times.

Anyone else noticed this? If so is there a Fix ?

Make sure you have metal detectors at ALL DOORS and exit points. If there is one up at one door everyone else will go to the other door instead that does not have one.

Yep, they can hit a diagonal block and get away. 2 solutions #1) Build tunnel like I did for kitchen and outside entry so they cant escape OR #2) my new fave way like entry to canteen/holding cell. I use double wide opening and stack 2 rows of 2 metal detectors. That gives PLENTY of space to prevent jams and catches everything. (I used 2X in top hallway too)

Try put a metal detector outside the workshop/canteen. Additional metal detector outside the cell block.

Do remember put at least a metal detector at main entrance and visit room. New inmates tends to bring personal item froum outside. Visitor also will smuggle goodies for thier love one.

Is very hard for 100% detect metal items using metal detector.

Best during zz time ( at least 3- 4 hours) conduct all search cell to search for all contraband and tunnel. It help reduce the tension and also spead up the searching.

Instead of manually pressing "Search Cellblock" for every cellblock in your prison, you should however use "Shakedown" (the first of the red buttons on the right).
I usually use a shakedown around once per week.

Also it is a good to do normal searchs of 1-2 cellblocks at the time when the prisoners are currently eating ... this way they won´t be upset by the search, as they won´t notice it (with exception of those prisoners in whose cells you find contraband of course :D )

I have a chokepoint in my halls that has a metal detector installed. They have to pass through it to get their lunch.

I have detectors in all obvious locations....The issue I am speaking of is the visual gap you get with the metal detector and walls.... the gap is not only visual.....the prisoners can pass through the gap and don't get scanned.

It always seemed to me that "not getting scanned" doesn´t have to do anything with the gap, but rather with the detector having a certain probability for every prisoner to function correctly (and detecting contraband if the prisoner has it) or not working correctly (no flash for this prisoner, neither for detecting contraband, nor for failing to detect anything)

Detector seems to have a reset thats why my fave for chokepoints is 2 by 2 detectors. Makes for a wider ez-flow opening and CONSTANT flashes. Almost nothing makes it thru.

Prisoners can use all those machines in the workshop without a space in between them? Also isn't there a max of 20 workers per shop? Seems like you have way too many machines in one shop.

I have my metal detectors set up just outside the entrance to both the canteen and workshop. I know the screenshot is a bit zoomed out, but look to the right and you'll see what I mean. Had the exact same issue as you when making entrances originally. It seemed like the detectors that were attached to a wall would always get placed oddly, but as soon as they were in front of a wall, the placement issue was gone, and almost every single prisoner would be scanned (*flash*) on enter/exit.

Edit: and to add - Once I placed my metal detecors just like the screenshot, in front of an open entrance, with no door between, I literally caught three times the amount of contraband than before. So once again with PA, placement is key with absolutely everything. Hope this helped :)

The detector flashes every time a con passes through it regardless of any contraband detected. It flashes to register that a con has passed through and been scanned.

Will give this method a try and see if it works any better for me. Cheers.

Apologies, should've worded that a bit better - When I placed my metal detectors as shown in the pic, it eliminated the gap that prisoners would occasionally pass through, and resulted in them all being scanned.

That happens when it is backwards. Just dismantle it flip it around and u should be good. This has happened to me before alsoo.

This seems to work fine. There is not such a jam now as they pass through and although some cons do pass through the central gap they still get scanned.

Try taking out the 2 single block walls on the left and right and see if that doesn't bring the metal detectors together. If not, try dismantling the metal detectors, and rotate them before rebuild. There only seems to be an issue for me when there is a wall to the immediate left or right of the metal detector. Otherwise, they line up just fine in the open.
