How do I assign a guard to CCTV monitor?
Whenever I assign someone, they look at it for a few seconds then leave. When I assign them via deployment they move around in the room but not next to the monitor.

Guard Patrols. Put a patrol point down within the boundary of the monitor and then click it again to assign a guard to that patrol.

Using that method you can have 1 guard look at up to 6 monitors, though anything more than 4 looks weird.

I usualy make a small room with 3-4 monitors turned towards the middle and assign a guard to that room.

rEtliF, the feature is in the game for the cctv monitors. The CCTV works, just, it got bugged in one of the last two to three builds.

OP, try what the others are saying with a patrol path point inbetween the monitors (Within the squares it highlights) and deploying guards to the room to follow the patrol path. It'll work then.

Oh? Time to try out this feature then.
Thanks.

What About these new CCTV screens? I cant get them to work, are they bugged as of this update? there's no highlighted area, and it required a chair along with the screen...

The new ones have to be put in a security room, which requires an office desk, chair, and filing cabinet. However if you have enough guards one will just go over automatically and assign himself to that terminal.

well i did all that crap tonne of extra gaurds, and nothing, no self-assigns, nada, zilch, noodle.

Right now it seems mostly random - I don't know a way to make guards staff them reliably, but putting them in security rooms with lots of idle guards seems to work more often than not... which clearly isn't going to be an ideal long-term solution.

Apparently: In order for a guard to voluntarily position themselves at a CCTV monitor they must have free time. Guard assignments for deployment and patrols are assigned first. Any guards not deployed will then be assigned to prisoner intake or movement (to cells or punishment); and finally any remaining guards will wander into the security office and use the CCTV monitor. That is assuming they are also rested and not injured otherwise they will go to a staff room or infirmary. To ensure coverage check that you have enough guards to cover all other prison needs and resting periods so that extra guards will wander in and monitor the cameras.

None of these things work. I have 73 guards all in my security room and not a damn one wants to use the monitor. Even if I put them onto a patrol.

I have made a discovery!
After searching forum after forum to find the solution, i came to terms that i would never get a guard to man my cctv monitor; I was right about that.
A few hours later i notice my cooks weren't in the kitchen nocking up a bang up meal for all my prisoners. I also notice my cctv cameras were not flashing red no more. I check my monitors and i have two cooks manning the monitors!
So there you go, if no guard wants the job, perhaps a cook does.
