is it a good idea to have toilets in solitary?
the floor keeps getting dirty so i think having a toilet would fix that but would they escape from it?

I believe you can put anything you want in solitary you want. However i don't think they'll use any item inside the cells.

if they can build a tunnel in 2 or 3 hours they need to be ina supermax

I saw prisons which have bed and toilet in the solitary and wondered why they didn't put also shower/tv etc. into it. There is no need to put anything into solitary, no need to let the prisoners fullfil their need since they got suppressed, they will be in peace after release of solitary.

i implemented it after all. i did it because it seems that if there isn't any toilets, they ♥♥♥♥ and pee on the floor making it get dirty much faster

I use four hours of solitary as a punishment for escape attempts and make a habit of searching the cells of known tunnelers early in the night. If they also attack a guard while trying to escape, the penalty becomes much longer. In each solitary cell, I put a bed so the tunnelers will get some sleep and a toilet in case of these longer isolations. (They can't tunnel out of solitary.)

I am one of those who put toilets in solitary ...
having them without a toilet sounds too cruel to me ... no matter that they don´t complain about their needs while being supressed. Don´t see any reasons to be cheap ... after all the prisoners make me a fortune whith printing license plates ... and in solitary there is no danger that the prisoners might use the toilets to dig escape tunnels ;)
Won´t put any beds there however ... a little bit of punishment has to be ... if they want to sleep, they can do so on the floor :D

Actually, they'll use anything in Solitary
Shoggoth1890 Nov 12, 2013 @ 12:50pm
Tunnels can only be dug from the toilet in a prisoner's own cell. They can't dig under any other toilets.

ETA: They can't dig out of holding cell toilets either. Only toilets in a room designated as a cell and only in theirs.

Same here. They do use them and won't dig. (It also saves on chairs.... lol)

Often in this game you need to come up with reasons why you *should* do something instead of why not. And believe it or not, what usually works best is what we would do in RL.

Our society would be destroyed if half the "wardens" in PA were RL wardens. :)

What, you mean leaving 30 criminals in a holding cell with no working toilet or beds is a bad idea to do in rl?

As long as...... the mortuary is well funded and ambulance path is clear. Yeah. Sure...

I make solitary 1x2 with no light or bed or toilet. I'm almost tempted to try making it 1x1 to save space. I keep my prisoners in solitary for a long time. (Up to 72 hrs if they attack staff)

Doesn't solitary need to be 2 x 2? It's been awhile....

And 72 is total overkill. They're pacified after 4 or so and it means they are

1) Not producing
2) Holding up other solitary "users" unless you have a whole lot of cells.
