Laundry not working
Hey Guys,

I have a pretty nice prison going on. The only thing which doesn't work is the laundy. I assigned prisonners to them, I have washing mashines, baskets and ironing boards.... during work time the prisonners just go in there doing nothing (while the baskets are pretty full of fresh cloth) with having "working" bar on them. But nobody distributes the laundy ... Any suggestions?

Hire some more Janitors. They will delivery laundry when not busy.
If that doesn't work, then you have a real problem. I'd look into your layout after that.

I had a similar bug, interestingly it seemed to be caused by having the deliveries area and road area outside set to staff only. As with the above reply, could be not enough janitors so only staff would pick up delivered uniforms.

I hired 30 Janitors... they will not do anything besides cleaning the laundry room...

Just a wild guess, but you don't need to teach the prisoners first to work into the laundry room?
Because I do know that you have to teach the prisoners to help cook into the kitchen.

I'd need to see your layout to be of any more help.
Make sure your cells are enclosed in a building and not exposed to the outdoors directly.

oh, that might be a problem @chalked.up. What do you mean by seeing my layout? Should I post a picture or send you the save file?

screenshots on your cells and laundry areas
you need more janitors. If you have too few, they will only keep cleaning. From my knowledge, I've been seeing my prisoners and janitors deliver laundry mostly at night anyways. Make sure you have a lot of laundry baskets by the way, any piles of clothes sitting on the floor is a bad sign that they're not going to be cleaned.

I tried to have more janitors... I hired like 50 of them and waited for 5minutes... nothing happened. How can I post a screenshot?

Use Steam's screenshot manager. Hit F12 while in the game with Steam overlay. Upload pictures and post the links in this thread.

You don't need to 'train' prisoners to work in your laundry.

A good basic starting laundry room would have 2 washing machines, 4 ironing boards, and 8 laundry baskets. (just remember 2-4-8). Make the room big enough so that later you can slowly add more washing machines, ironing boards, and laundry baskets as your prison grows. You could just build more landry rooms as you need them, but if done right, you could have one laundry room efficiently support your whole prison.
IF you have a working laundry room, with all the necessary items in it, just keep watch on your cells. If the cells regularly get little orange packets on their beds, that means your laundry is going out. Sometimes if you just look at the laundry room, it will look like all the prisoners are taking a break, but the laundry should still be getting delivered.

i have same problem.

problem is somewhere in the "delivering" of the clean clothes to cells. the workers will process the clothes, and put them in the laundry baskets, but will refuse to distribute them.

hiring more janitors does not help.

being patient does not help

there are no apparent problems with the room planning. bins, washers, boards all present.

all rooms connected to the laundry room via logistics.

prisoners are assigned to duty in the room, are allotted work time, and are present in the room "working" but doing nothing.

"dumping" the laundry that currently exists in the bins will result in the ordering of more uniforms, having new uniforms delivered, and transported form delivery to the laundry baskets where they sit forever.

dumping the baskets, and ordering new ones does nothing different.

there is a legit bug here, and no fix, and no answers. many searches here, and on the official forums yield no help on this "prison ending" bug.

Guys, i have a somewhat similar bug, the laundy is not working, but thats becuase the clean clothes are at the deliveries, they aren't beign delivered to the laundry. Also, my bleaches are at the deliveries, not in the cupboard :S

It seems to be a problem with the room of the laundy itself. Because once I assigned another currently working laundry (even if it is far away) to the cell block, prisonners and janitors immediatly start to distribute the laundy...

A problem I had once was that items laying around in the area can seize the whole room from operation. One time, I had a light in a crate stacked on top of a stove, I believe, and it caused EVERYTHING in the kitchen to seize from working.
