Getting prisoners to move faster
As the title says, I'm having problems with prisoners movement...I have a cell block that is long, and far from the canteen and even with my shortcut doors opened, they still didn't manage to get to the canteen in time and so, some were left starving...I would like devs to make some sort of transportation or stuff like that so that i won't have this problem anymore...maybe a walkalator that is one block wide and long that when you place them continually in a row, would form a long walkalator and that can bend, direction can be changed (Of course they can only go one direction at a time). Or maybe a minibus, you need to designate an outdoor room labelled as "Bus Stop" which requires a 2x1 space and a Bus Stand, which is basically a small building 2x1 blocks wide, place them adjacent to roads or gravel on which the minibus will move on and the minibus will move along an outdoor room designated as Bus Route which requires Roads/Gravel (Preffered: road) to be valid as a room. The minibus would be 6x1 blocks wide in which, the front 1x1 space is for drivers while the remaining 5x1 space is for 5 prisoners to ride in...some might say that my problem would be solved by making another canteen nearby that problematic cell block but i say that i want to save cost on operation and even if there's 2 kitchen it seems like they only go to this one kitchen (happened on my other prison). Also, i don't want mods because my PA runs in Safe Mode which means mods can't be run in that mode. What do you guys think of this feature?

Why the hell would you want something like this? The point of the game is managing the logistics of hundreds of inmates- that means getting more efficient with building placement. Look online at what other people have done and copy OR get creative. (build a canteen/kitchen closer to your inmates)

I have the same problems... takes my prisoners like 2 hours to move from one side of the prison to the other... and then another hour to get themselves through some doorways.

I already got about 460 prisoners and more money then I need, so lately I've been working on trying to optimize my prison more.

its getting harder though, I initially made my main hallways 2 units wide cuz I figured I'd need it later, but already 2 units is BARELY enough at high-traffic areas...

since theres no 3 unit wide doors I built more doorways into some rooms, but the stupid inmates seem to rather crowding around one enterance and not being able to get through then go to the other enterance 6 units over...

basicly though, thats half of the game.

There are mods that do that.

Design your prison better! ;)

Yup, that's what I would be doing in your situation!

but i say that i want to save cost on operation and even if there's 2 kitchen it seems like they only go to this one kitchen (happened on my other prison).

If you want to save on costs and only have one canteen, but don't want this problem of the single canteen being too far away, then design the prison with a short distance from cell to canteen in mind in the first place...

The whole 'multiple kitchens and canteens' thing is supposedly much better to manage with the latest alpha, if you're playing that one. Watch the latest alpha videos.

If you need prisoners in a certain place at a certain time you need to either arrance your prison in a way that it naturally happens or cheat a little.

Get a yard nearby and arrange yard time before eating as an example. This will ferry them towards where you want so they are nearby when it comes to eating.

im using the latest version though...what's the fastest outdoor tile that they can move on anyway? paving stone or concrete tiles?
Not sure there's a huge difference, why don't you try both and observe? :)
