Can I assign prisoners to certain cells?
So I have 4 seperate blocks. A supermax, a max, and 2 shared blocks. When I got a supermax inmate, the guard didn't take him to the supermax only block. He took him to shared. I don't want this prisoner in this block, I'd rather him be assigned a cell in supermax. Is there anyway I can change him over to the proper cell block?

yes i also have the same problem. i recommend you to try to put up full cell blocks as minimum medium maximum and supermax. now for supermax cell i would put up a toilet bathroom and a special separate canteen in that cell block itself with armed guards and the cell should have a few cells like 5-10.. that works?

The shared part works like an overflow. If there's room they should automatically go to the right one.

If not you can try and set the 'shared' blocks to low or medium security. hope this helps

Can I assign a block to low AND midium security? Or a room such as cantine? So have a cantine for medium and low security prisoners?

Not directly but there is a way to "trick the game": Build two seperate entrances to a building. They don't have to be big, just little rooms with two doors. Set one entrance to min sec only, the other to medium sec only. Leave the room /cantine or cell block) as shared.

That way min sec will only use the one entrance, med sec the other and max sec (or pc/super-max) can't enter at all.

Thats interesting because my supermax has 3 cells and none of them are being used. He's the only supermax in my prison aswell. For whatever reason, the guard decided to pass him a cell in genpop and not in supermax. Now, my shared cellblock is closer to the entrance than the supermax block is so that's probably part of it.

I've avoided making the shared cell block restricted because it's meant for med and min. But should I do it temp so they force move him to supermax?

make a small far away distant 5 supermax cell block with 5 armed guards and seperate canteen and yard and a shower with a few metal detectors and 3 solidary

This will also only work temporarily. If your legendary gets send to solitary, they'll assign him a new cell as soon as his punishments ends and most likely it will be a shared one.

I'm not sure that's the case, but to answer the OP, yes, you can assign a prisoner to a specific cell. Left click on the prisoner, right click on the cell, and he'll be escorted there. If it's a cell that's already occupied, the original resident will be moved to a new cell.

As for the rest of the thread - the lowest-hassle solution is to build separate wings for SM and PC prisoners. The only truly shared room is the canteen, and that seems to have been addressed in the latest alpha release. Create security-specific vestibules to control access and you'll be all set.

I wondered. My friend suggested that but he was pretty sure that prisoners would not return to that cell after punishments. And being that the guy is supermax, that's a constant deal.

I ended up splitting the lower double cell block and having them set for max and med only. I made the smaller one for med as I'm slowly trying to move into a maximum security prison. That seemed to solve those issues.

I dont think we can do this quite yet. (Could be as something where cells are only limited to the amount of beds they have in them but its alpha still so)
