CCTV's connected, powered, and still not working
I have enough monitors, (I know it's 8 per,) and I connected from the monitor to the cameras. No error pops up for any of them, although only about half of the camera's actually illuminate the area their in. Does this make sense? So in some hallways and such with cameras that are technically working, it's still dark with fog of war.
Any ideas?

Have you connected two wires to each cctv? (one from the monitors, and one from the camera.)

Is there a guard sitting at the monitor?
Hewber Jan 23, 2015 @ 8:00pm
There are guards at the terminals, that's the first thing I checked. I have one wire going from the monitor to the camera one way. Do I have to loop it? Does the loop need to be at the monitor to camera level or from camera to camera leading to the terminal? Wish there was more description. The more confusing part of everything is that HALF the cameras work to full functionality and the other half say theyre working but don't illuminate their area; and they all are wired the same way.

I never have to loop it, not sure where that myth comes from.

Do the monitors not working have power? Only thing I can think of atm.
Hewber Jan 24, 2015 @ 5:50pm
They all have power, or else they'd have the flashing lightning bolt on them. The strangest thing... I know what to look for and how to problem solve but this one's got me scratching my head. I bet it's something either really easy and dumb or a glitch.
just connect from the monitor to each individual camera

I did just connect the monitor to each individual camera as I've already mentioned. Not to come off crass or anything I know you're trying to help and I'm thankful for the effort :)

OK, I know this is prolly a stupid question but you've covered all the basics sooo...did you remember to put lights in the hallways? if there are no lights the cameras won't light the are up

Have you tried removing the offending monitors and building new ones?

May sound like it won't fix anything, but you'd really be surprised how often it works in PA.

Oh, I thought of another stupid thing to chec, are you sure the sec. camaeras are pointed the right way? I did that once and spent a good 10 minuets confused untill I realized..

A.) You do not need to "loop" the wires. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
B.) Power + Guard = Operation
C.) Connect the Monitor TO the Camera. Don't do Camera to the Monitor.
D.) Dont place two monitors facing towards eachother with a 1x gap between them, as there is no room for two operators.

Thanks for the responses. I can check the lights in the hallways but if I remember correctly I think when you build the building concrete or brick that the workers automatically install lights throughout? but I can check. I have tried dismantling the bad ones and putting new ones both in the same place and both in a space or two over. Sometimes I did install the cameras the wrong way but I noticed it immediately and fixed. and last but not least the monitors do have ample room, I remember before a patch where a guard just needed to be in an area in front of the monitor you could but two machines facing eachother and it would work. Now its a manned guard type and it needs 1 space unimpeded in front of it.

I can't think of anything else, I should try to screenshot it for everyone.
