Time set for prisoners to eat?
In a 500 cell prison, I usually set 6 hours all up a day for my prisoners to eat (eg brekfast 2 hours lunch 2 hours dinner 2 hours). It's such an annoyance because the only reason I have to do it is because If I don't set atleast 2 hours, half the prisoners miss out on eating becuse they are:
Being searched
Running into walls
Generally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aorund.

Any ideas on how to speed up the eating process?

Other then breakfest, you typically have issues trying to do less then 2 hour blocks for meal times, especially if you have a large quantity of prisioners. Lots of cooks/cooker to have all the food ready, and lots of serving tables to eat off of will speed things up, bet even then.,,,

Lissa is right as usual. Whatever you do, less than 2 hours just doesn't work well. And the larger the prison and number of prisoners, the harder it is to get them all there on time.

The easiest way of having only one Eat hour is to put your Yards right next-door to your Canteens.
Set 1 hour Yard followed by 1 hour Eat.

It still takes up 2 hours, but you get some exercise time in for your prison rating and crucially, it herds all the prisoners nearer to the canteen before Eat time. Then you have a mad rush of 1 hour Eat and everyone is happy.

I've found having 3 Eat blocks is kinda pointless too. Half the prisoners turn up and they're not even hungry and so, don't eat anyway. So I just do breakfast and dinner.

It's also worth noting that 3 hour Eat blocks are considered TWO separate meal times - so your cooks have to cook twice. That's a huge money hog.
Two hours is the longest an Eat time can be and still be considered one meal time.

Try transitioning from yard, to 1 hour of free time, then eat. If the prisioners' need are mostly met they will tend to grab a book and sit in the canteen to read it.

I have 1-hour eat windows sometimes, but only for really small prisoner groups (usually protective custody).
