HELP! Kitchen isn't working - why?
On day 17, my kitchen stopped providig canteen with any meals. Cooks just wander around without any attempt to do just something. Logistics or Regime are not to blame - everything is set up appropriately for normal functioning.
What is the matter with it? I'm sure that kitchen was working correctly from the beginning of the game but don't just advice me to start everything again - NOT an option.
Is it just game bug or maybe I can fix it by myself?

Have you tried deleting all your ingredients in the kitchen? I've come across issues with the ingredients on fridges next to walls bugging out. The cook will stand in front of the ingredient but never pick it up. Others will come by to pick it up and bug out too until all your cooks tried for the ingredient and bugged out. Happened most frequently when I put a fridge on a horizontal wall similiar to your fridge in the upper right.

I had the exact same problem. One minute my kitchens are making meals. The same day, next eating regime they just break...

If you have an earlier save try and re-load. If not, try removing the rooms overlay for all your kitchens and then replace the Kitchen room. Apparently you need to make the Kitchen/Canteen shared too. I still definitely think it's a bug. There's no indication of why it doesn't work sometimes...I see the meal time coming the Demand raises to "30" then once the prisoners arrive the demand drops to 0 and the cooks do nothing.

YOur canteen is PC zoned. No one but PC can get in, change the zoning to shared and it should fix your isssue.

Surely it shouldn't matter if its PC zoned, staff should still be working inside? Maybe thats another bug that accidently got brought in with 31. I havent zoned any kitchens yet so i wouldnt know.

no, it matters, you see only inmates of the selected sec lvl can enter any zoned all or room. YOu have inmates that can't get into the room because of the way it's zoned hence no demand. Change it to shared it sould begin to work. I didn't see anything else obviously wrong, but that in enough.

When did that start to matter about staff though? My zoned sections are used by guards and staff walk through them all the time. It used to just be prisoners of different secs couldnt go through the zones that weren't them ? :?

Edit* and he said the cooks are in there just not doing anything , so maybe he needs to restart , delete old food or re hire them ? :?

NO, if the inmates can't access the canteen then it will not register a demand there, if no demand is registered the cooks won't cook for it. It has NOTHING to do with his kitchen, it's his canteen. Staff don't care, inmates do.

OK in large letters. Well maybe they should move the demand mechanic to the canteen areas and have that register with the kitchen differently. Shall keep my kitchens shared.

rememer this is alpha. The mechanic does exactly as it's supppose to do, limit the sec lvl of inmates allowed in. The in-game explanation is crappy, but it's not a bug it's a user error.
