No Food Delivery - Help Please :(
I have just spent 3 days building a new full prison from scratch after selling my previous prison as it came to a point where I couldnt add to it anymore and I wanted an improved layout.

I have just tried opening my prison as I am pretty much happy with the basic layout now.

I took in ten prisoners to start with for a small test of the prison security and layout.

My kitchen and Canteen just will not work. Please can anyone see what I have done wrong. Tried removing and rebuilding, removing allocation, playing with logisitcs and supply area.

No food is ever delivered to the delivery area for the cooks. They sit in the kitchen doing nothing and then prisoners just riot in the end.

I have a demand of 10 with 0 supply. ? I have money in the bank to buy the food with., I will add screenshots below....

They fed the prisoners on day 1 using food that was predelivered before prison was open for business after that 0 - nothing...

Anyone?
I guess I have found a game breaking bug then.. gutted.

They can't cook because they lack ingrediants. Not sure where that issue is comming from, I see an accesable delivery area that also lacks any ingrediant boxes. Is that our only kitchen? I tend to leave spaces between all my fridges/stoves, not sure if that could be causing any issues, but at least one should be acessable. Try tweeking up your meal policy, if there is a stash of ingrediants somewhere that is messing with things it should still trigger more ingrediants being sent. Prehaps a few more screen shots would give a better idea where the issue is.

Your cooker layout seems odd (to me). Try removing the 2nd and 4th cooker, any difference?

Yes correct no food is being delivered at all I even have demand but no supply at all. No ingrediants - no cooking.
I have 4 kitchens in total 3 in max-sec and 1 common for all min and med inmates. I removed the others to see if that made a difference. Still no good. Nothing being delivered.

The kitchen works fine they cooked meals on day 1 until they used all ingrediants.

Cookers do not need gaps in between an work fine.

Are there any ingrediants left in any of the old kitchens, if so dump them. Typically the issue is a hidden stash of stuff the cooks are hoarding. Did you try increasing to high/high meals? If there ARE ingreadiants that you can't find it should still trigger delivery of the difference.

Lissa_981 you are spot on....
There was 2 old pots of food sitting in one of my buildings that had been dropped on the floor that was buggin things out..

I am guessing that the kitchen wouldnt buy any food because technically there was enough food on site to make for the prisoners but none of the cooks ever went to find this food. With fog of war on it was very hard to spot... I tried bumping it to high but it still wouldnt cause a trigger. Once i dumped a box of eggs and box of bread it started to trigger new deliveries, which in turn went to the main kitchen and they started cooking again.

I went back to a save just before opening the prison did the same and now it works fine..

So annoying that cooks can lose food like this in the prison and not return to collect it.

My problem is solved now thankyou. And it makes a good read for anyone who might ever experience this kinda problem in the future.

Well bugger me sideways they still just take the food to other kitchens that have 0 demand for food. Everything is setup correctly on logistics. All the food goes to kitchens that do not use it and nothing goes to kitchen that really needs it. Such bugs.

I dont really want to open the max security blocks until i have a good flow of min-med security prisoners in place. I suppose i could just reallocate the high security blocks low ones and then move the prisoners at a later date but damn this still really sucks ass.

Everything i try just leads to riots due to starvation. In theory my prison design is faultless and im now stuck with having to redraw a whole new prison just to accomodate a bug.

I tried linking the 3 block kitchens to the main canteen as a quick fix but it takes the chefs too long to bring the food from the blocks to the main canteen and they miss dinner,.

Yeah, there's a bit of a problem with having multiple kitchens like that - as you noticed the ingredients get spread around, even to places where there is 0 demand and then things jam up. I just resorted to having one big kitchen feeding multiple canteens.

I typically just leave the kitchen de-zoned untill I'm ready to use it, I'd also remove all but one fridge (be sure to dump all the ingrediants though) that way I can add them slowly as demand rises to prevent a recurence later on. If you just desperatly want to keep it opened you COULD hook it in as a second kitchn to that canteen, but that would add a lot of walking time, and I can't really see any benifit.

Can you upload the save file to dropbox or gdrive, or somewhere else?

It just takes some extra preperation.. I use 7 kitchens serving 5 canteens in all my mega prisions. I find watching your prision run in the food-logistics overly on the run up to meal time to be most informitive. When you have probles re-zone your kitchen, re-set your logistics and dump all your ingredaints.. in that order. There is little that doesn't solve.

its all good I de-zoned the kitchens until I am ready to use them this fixed the problem.

Once the kitchens are all in use there will be no problem because the ingrediants will get spread around once it hits full capacity.

This is very common if you build your prison first then try to fill it. The games logistics need tweaking so it knows which kitchen needs the food first.

Only answer I've found is to fill 1 security type first, then start intake of next security type. Make sure to lock other kitchens so all deliveries go to your only available kitchen. If at anytime deliveries go to other kitchens it will take away from your main kitchens meal counts, or as you found it can take to long to shuffle cooked meals from each kitchen to your main canteen. Deleting the ingredients in an unused kitchen and then locking it will help keep your main kitchen stocked first, but when you delete ingredients that current/next meal time may be short some meals as the cooks didn't have the full amount of ingredients needed for the meal.

Simply add 1 fridge at a time. As all the fridges in a specific kitchen empty durring meal time add another in that kitchen.. as long as you keep your intake levels steady and add the fridges slowlyly it works just fine.

I ended up having to remove all other kitchen equipment in order for everything to run as it should...

Simply locking the doors did not work as the chef's would not collect ingrediants from delivery area. Im guessing the game had already allocated them to other fridges that were not in use.

I de-zoned the kitchens this also did not fix the problem.

The only solution was to remove all cookers fridges sinks and serving tables from any area not currently in use,

Leaving these in and running the game caused strange behaviour even the sinks meant that they would not clean the dirty trays from the canteen area, Its been a tough lesson to learn, alot of wasted hours trying to find what was broken,, and it is still the game slightly bugging out because de-zoning the kitchens and canteens should have been enough. But even with just having the sinks etc installed was causing too much strange behavior.

All kitchens and canteens not in use were gutted to empty rooms... now everything works as i want it to and expect....

Thanks for all your input and help.............. to find a workable solution :DD
