Indoor requires foundations, should be the leftmost construction button in bottom

When you build a foundation, it will build the corresponding walls. If you build a foundation onto another foundation, it will remove all walls where they intersect and objects in the area. You can cancel the removals.. If you build a foundation BESIDE another foundation, then they will share the common foundation wall. Building a foundation onto the edge of an outside wall, it will keep that outside wall.
Play the tutorial, it explains how to build 'indoors' rooms. It makes plenty sense when you know what to do, you'll get there, just like all the other thousands of people having fun with it.

Did you use something from the Foundation button, or did you just put in concrete paving so it's not a dirt floor? It has to be a Foundation tool.

Tell me which steps you are taking to create a room.

Which buttons you are clicking -exactly-.

Building foundations does work, there's 1000's of people getting it to work correctly every day

Have you bothered to do the campaign? do you understand the difference between foundation and materials menus?

Only foundations can create indoor areas

And if a room says it must be fully enclosed it must be surrounded by walls (and openings with a door). Which means the room marked area must be INSIDE of the walls/door and that means not marking the door spot

I just put foundation down, added marble floor, two doors and its still considered outside..... so no your steps dont work.

OK SO HERE IS WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR INSTRUCTIONS.... No one mentioned that you dont build the foundation like a wall. I built a peremeter, which is probably what these guys are doing too. instead you need to drag it across where the inside of the building would be exactly like a marble floor is placed....

That's how building a foundation works, and you would know that if you did the campaign which teaches you this

Just because you failed at understanding the instructions does not make them wrong

Don't be a condescending as$. There is a bug in this game where you can build an enclosed area with just walls or surrounding rooms with walls to create an enclosed space. The game will not recognize that now enclosed space to be used as an indoor space. You have to do the stupid build foundation drag and then go back and delete a bunch of walls you didn't want that are blocking hallways all because there is no foundation only option. Just because we are not playing the game 100% as the developer intended doesn't make the player wrong. And just because 1000's of others can drone on according to the script doesn't make the UI right. Without a foundation only option, non-square layouts are going be a pain in the ass.

That's not a bug, that's you not understanding the issue yet again

If all you build is walls: you do not have a roof, there is no method to actually build an enclosed space without a foundation, without a foundation all you have are outdoor walls and no roof

To achieve an enclosed space you need: foundation (which includes roof) and walls

This is not a bug, and your continued failure to grasp this is no ones fault but your own

If you think correcting your mistakes is someone being condescending, you are going to encounter that a lot in your life. There's no way for you to be corrected without being told you failed at it.

That's ridiculous, you can't just construct a few walls in the middle of a field and call it a building. You can make a foundation any shape you want if you do it properly.

Doesn't matter if the end result is what you want. How many redundant walls did you have to delete to get what you want when the end result would be the same? I see at least 6 redundant actions/undos, which playing on some interfaces is a lot of time-consuming actions. How about they make a foundation option that seeks out all walls in all directions and makes a complete room if it's enclosed.
