Dirty clothes everywhere
So I've been playing for a bit, the game is quite entertaining.

I'm having a problem with dirty clothes. I've checked the forums a bit but all the posts I see are more than a year old. I tried a few of the solutions (check if the laundry room is correctly enclosed, put every path between the laundry and the cells on foundations) but it didn't resolve my problem.

Now, most of my cells have at least one dirty uniform in them and I don't exactly now why my janitors aren't picking up the uniforms. I have 35 janitors for 250-280 prisonners.

I have a good handle on the rest of the needs of my prisoners and I pride myself in making them the most comfortable. It's frustrating that they are starting to get angrier and angrier because of clothes. I now have about more than 60% of my prison who has the needs clothes in orange.

I think it may be the fact that I put a shower in each cell. I'm really not sure, I read someone did that to satisfy prisoners that worked 9 to 11 hours a day. While mine only works 6 hours a day, I still thought it would be good for my prisoners to be able to wash up while in lockup. I dismantled half of those showers and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Prisoners pick up and distribute uniforms.

Actually prisoners are not necessary for pickup and distribution of uniforms ... this is one thing that janitors do as well.
BUT prisoners are the ones who are responsible to iron the uniforms after they come out of the washing machine (the only job in the dirty->clean clothes processing, which only can be done by he prisoners themselves.

So if OP doesn´t have any prisoners do prison work in the laundry, the process of generating clean clothes will be stuck there.

I have 3*20 persons laundries. It should be enough for 768 prisoners according to the wiki, with 4 washing machines, 8 ironing boards and 16 laundry baskets in each of these rooms.

I have 36 janitors and 60 prisoners assigned to this job, but still the dirty uniforms are staying on their bed or lying around the ground in the cells. I have prisoners with 3 dirty uniforms in their cell.

When it's time to work, the prisoners stay in the laundry and do nothing.

Same. I just cannot get laundry working at all. I've tried multiple different prisons and haven't any luck with any of them. There must be something I'm missing, but I have no idea what it is.

- Laundry room is (much) larger than 5x5
- 3x baskets, ironing boards, machines
- Connected via paths
- Close Proximity to cells
- Prisoners assigned laundry role via Deployment menu
- Prisoners attend laundry room when 'working', but just stand there.

I haven't seen a successful laundry run in any of my games, so my clothing requirement is constantly at max. No idea how to fix it.

Kazuma, you could be having two different problems, and from your post I can't tell which it is. Everything people said above is good advice if you're having trouble getting laundry up and running. If your laundry isn't working correctly the clothing need should be high.

But if you have the clothing need under control then likely you're dealing with the dropped cloths bug. When you do shakedowns, especially of laundry baskets with cloths in them, cloths get dropped on the floor. Then nobody ever picks them up--they will stay on the floor forever. This is an annoying bug, but has nothing to do with your laundry procedures or needs.

Hope that helps. I had some trouble finding this information. (To keep my prison from looking messy, I avoid shakedowns as much as possible and use other security procedures.)

Same for me. Tried all the tips and tricks I could find on the net. After multiple prisons I still get the same result. Dirty clothes are not beeing retrieved. A janitor will start and will visit about 2 or 3 cells and it all halts after that.

I fixed it by building one big indoor space. Before my cells were all different buildings with outdoor paths connecting them. After creating one big indoor room with walls the loundry started to get collected and processed.
So my fix was: Dont build seperate buildings with outdoor paths.

Do you really mean every single cell, having an outdoor area in between, or do you mean different cell-blocks ?

Ive read something like this before, but I've never had problems with outdoor areas between laundry and cell-blocks. Never had cells like cell>jaildoor>outdoors though.

Sitonheedge : I don't have the clothing need under control. Seems most people don't get new clothes, but some do.

Well I'm gonna play this game in a few months again, in the meantime it might be corrected.

Thanks for the insights.

I had created buildings that consisted of 16 cells together. I made about 4 or 5 of those blocks, and added outdoor paths to connect them (all the cells) to each other and the canteen, shower etc. The canteen, showers and laundry were in a different building. The cell doors were indeed on the outside of the building.
with this setup a janitor would bring 1 or 2 cells some clothes and after that the whole process stopped. When I changed all my paths and open space to indoor rooms the laundry process came magically alive.
I did had to rebuild some walls that were taken down in the building of the new foundations, but those are easily rebuild.
