You will need to make a remote door. Then you need a door servo (under utilities I think). Place that door servo so it touches the remote door.
Then you'll need a remote door control station in your security office for an officer to man.
Don't forget to use the "connect" menu by clicking on the remote door control station to wire up each door! It appears to work just like CCTV cameras.

BTW - Sometimes a guard shift change traps the guy who is supposed to be the "new" door opening officer behind a remote door. Kind of annoying.
Alternately you can add a Pressure Plate on either side of the door and connect to the servo (all in the Utilities screen) and that will allow prisoners and staff alike to just walk in/out if that's what you want. I do this for my doors to the outside Yard (fully enclosed) - it cuts down on violence while the dudes are all trying to squeeze out through the same door.

Oh sorry - remote access is researched by the Security Officer - you have to get the Warden to research him and then hire him and then build him an office and then he'll get Remote Access for you.

It doesn't have to be a remoto door, a remoto door can ONLY be open remotly, a door servo can open any type of door even a road gate.
@scuba - really? Is that right? That's very cool I thought they would only work with the remote doors.

@Diego - YW! :-)

yes it is right (I thought the same when I first started) it's not clear at all, I've seen loads of people make that mistake.
