how to hire informants (snitches)?
so, i searched a bit arround in the PA forum and here in the steam forum.
i found several stuff how to hire an informant which are the following.

-there is a recruit button in the character tab
nope, theres no recruit tab for me

-putt the stitch for x amount of hours into solitary
well this didnt worked, one of them was 24 hours in solitary and tried to take the solitary door down.

-the snitch needs to be in solitary to hire him, when he is in solitary, go into theprisoner menu to the character tab.
no, this didnt worked either, no recruit button or hire button. they get just mad because they are for so long in solitary.

for example. here one of the snitches, he is aswell in solitary but no recruit button

the game tells me aswell this:

recruit prisoners under duress (what ever that means, english is not my mainlanguage) eg solitary. so ... i guess it has to do with solitary right? but how get i the recruit button? do i need to build a specific room for it or so? cause, dosnt matter what i do with these snitches, it wont unlock the recruit button <..<

Pretty simple. When prisoners get sent to solitary, there is a chance to recruit them as a snitch. To do this, go to the Intelligence tab on the bottom hotbar and within that click on "Recruit Informants". Then move your screen over your solitary prison area, and wait. Eventually, depending on the prisoner characteristics and time spent in solitary, a yellow circle will appear around them. Click on this prisoner, which will open the Prisoner Menu. In the Prisoner Menu, click on the "Experience" tab. Then, right beside the prisoner mug-shot, there should be a button that says "Recruit Informant". Click it, and you're done.

uh, sun? do you even clicked the screenshot links?. they have already the yellow color on them. i even screenshoted one of them where you can see that theres no recruit button. theres none in the intiligence tab either (in which i am in the 2nd screenshot) it just says that there are no informants in my prison. but they are clearly seen on the screenshots. thanks for the help fallen sun but .. i was already that far. the problem which i have is that i dont get the "recruit button" i cant recruit them, not on the chracter tab, nor can i do that in th intiligence tab because the game says "there is noone to recruit" =/

Just because they have the Snitch trait when they enter the prison it doesn't mean they'll be an informant for you without you having to do what Fallen Sun has said.

The Colors (in this case yellow) or the snitch attribute have nothing to do with being CI. CI's don't become snitches, nor is it necessary for your CIs to be snitches before. (In your case yellow means protective custody. All PC Prisoners will have a coverrate of 0%, so it is useless to pick them as CIs.., better take minmedmax prisoners) Go to "intelligence, then "Informants" overlay. The rest @FallenSun edit* and DI * already have explained...

Yellow circle, not yellow clothes!

First of all you need to understand that snitch is not equal to confidential informant. Snitch doesn't mean that he is ratting out his fellow inkmates. It could also mean that he has made a deal with for example the district attorney before even even came to your prison. It is an outside trait that only informs you that this prisoners needs protection.

Pretty much every prisoner in your prison can be turned into a confidential informant. Not only snitches.

Secondly, as FallenSun said, you need to wait for a yellow CIRCLE to appear around the prisoner in solitary. You will only see this if you observe the solitary cell while you're in the CI screen (the one you used for your second screenshot). This might take a while or not show up at all. Depends on the prisoner. But when it shows up, only then will the recruit button appear.

And it will appear in the prison bio in EXPERIENCE - just like FallenSun said... again.

Your first and third screenshot both show the CHARACTER page.

If you are still unsure what to do, watch this little video that I just found on youtube for you:

Snitch =/= informant.

On a side note accual snitches make crappy informents. Everyone knows they tattle, so no one talks to them... now bubba (the tough instagotor in max sec that killed a man just to watch him die and will be in your prison for the foreseeable future) that's who you want to recruite

If they have the Snitch or Ex-Law Enforcement traits, you need to get them into Protective Custody ASAP. As soon as they are found out to be a Snitch or Ex-LE, they are likely to be assaulted and killed.

Someone with the Snitch or Ex-LE trait doesn't mean that they will automatically be a CI for you. And, actually, you don't really want them to be CI's. They will get murdered in Gen Pop and their coverage will be minimal if they are locked up in Protective Custody.

The best Confidential Informants are the ones serving the longest sentences. Like dudes that arrive with 6 months served out of a 100 year sentence. It will take your CI a little while to get 100% coverage, but they eventually will and you will be able to know everything once they do. Which is great for finding out traits of intakes.

When I get a fresh intake into my MaxSec only prisons, I put them into Solitary until I can activate a CI to see what the new inmate's traits are. If they're a Snitch or Ex-LE, they go into Protective. Otherwise, they go into Gen Pop. Unless they are Legendary. Then it's straight to SuperMax for life.
