Prisoners stuck in handcuffs?
I recently bought Prison Architect, and have been enjoying it so far, but there's one problem.

The prisoners are stuck in handcuffs?

I've looked at every thread possible. I've tried saving and restarting, I made a solitary confinement, moved them in to it manually...but they just stay in their cells, and every few seconds a guard walks in, moves them to a different place in a cell, and goes out. They don't eat, sleep, or anything.

When I scroll over them, it says: "Status Affect: Suppressed", and under it it says "Todo: Escort prisoner to cell."

Does anybody know what's wrong? I imagine I'm probably just missing some simple thing, but I can't find out on the life of me.

I found that if they did something wrong and sent to solitary confindment and I do not have a cell built for such action they remain in cuffs.

Yes, but I already have solitary confinement cells.

Same happened to me today. Restarting game and loading the savegame does not work. The guards try to put the prisoner into a cell but the prisoner is already there. If you look into the tooltip it shows something like "Todo: Escort prisoner to cell" but they are already there. They have hand cuffs but no solitary timer. I guess that savegame is now lost and I have to restart from the beginning.

The guards try endless to put the prisoner into the cell where they already are and so are stuck in a loop doing nothing else.

I made a screenshot of the situation: http://postimg.org/image/cmtv5a55r/

Show stopper bug.

Found the solution for that bug!

My prison had a leak and was not entirely closed. I've put a door there and the guard loop bug stopped. It seems prisoners are considered not in cell when there is a way to the outside of the prison without a door.

The prisoners had hand cuffs because they were new intakes!

1 make sure there not on for a crime lock down
2 you have the prisoner waiting for a solitary cell to be open till does
3 you may glitched in a wall try removing the wall. then just rebuild it.

Sadly, it appears to be a save-breaking glitch. Either way, I've started a new save that's better then my old one, but thanks to everyone who tried to help!

I was able to solve it. See above. Check your prison for any leaks. If there is no remove the front door and build a new one. Maybe that helps.

It does seem to be linked to solitary confinement like imshandon said.

Mine started doing this right after I did a search of the cell blocks. I didnt have enough solitary cells for the number of prisoners who had contraband and the ones that didnt get moved to solitary seem to be bugged now.

I had like 50 solitary cells and only 22 prisoners (after a little desaster :-) ). So its clearly not the solitary cells. The important thing to note is what the mouseover tooltip shows as "Todo". Move to cell or move to solitary. The problem here seems to be "move to cell" when the prisoner is already in the cell. As said I was able to solve it by rebuilding my front door.

I just fixed this bug! I'm not sure what eventually did the trick but I built another solitary cell and then clicked the prisoner and had someone search his cell. 30 seconds later a guard went and grabbed a prisoner that's been stuck in handcuffs doing nothing for 4 in game days. Hope this info helps!

I had the same problem, and looked at bluejacks post and laughed because I had 2 fences, one perimiter and one normal surrounding my prison. HOWEVER upon further investigation both fences had 1 break in them so there was an escape route through the prison. I fixed that and the very next time the guards repositioned the prisoners each prisoner lost its handcuffs and went about his daily business. long story short, never trust your workers.

Had a similar problem and found some weird bugs with forcing certain doors open and with certain zones deployed as "protected only" that people kept trying to walk through. Seems removing that and putting all doors on "normal" fixed it... I think.

For me i had the same issue when having a solitary cell stuck with a remote door (that wasnt removable due to a different bug). Locking it open helped.

Prisoners stuck in handcuffs usually = need a better fence

yep, it's not a bug guys.. this a user error. Prisons need to be secured and built to certin standards for gaurds to allow them out of thier cuffs.
