Expand foundation without removing walls?
If I have created a building and I want to add on an area that overlaps (I want to keep the current walls), how do I do this without destroying the original wall? If I just draw walls and add concrete floor, will that work as a building?

No. That's just walls and a floor - no roof, so not a building.
To expand a building, draw a foundation that abuts your current one. Don't overlap. Just draw right up next to an existing building/wall and the new building will share the wall. If you overlap, you'll get double walls.
Architectin' ain't easy... =)

Yeah, like chalked said you don't want to just draw the walls/floor. It takes some trial and error to figure out the best ways to extend an already existing foundation. I honestly didn't even think it was possible during first few prisons and thought that if I want a larger building, I'd have to demolish the entire smaller building first.

When extending a foundation sometimes you want to keep the current walls in-between and don't want to rebuild them. Other times you want all the in-between walls gone.

I don't remember, but I think if you overlap, then the wall gets removed. And if you make the extension immediately next to the current wall, that current wall stays.

It might be the other way around though, so just try it to see which is best for your current situation. Just be sure to save your game first, then try it and if it didn't do what you wanted reload and try it the other way.
