What's up with all the cellphones?
My prisoners seem to be obsessed with cellphones, sometimes one prisoner will hide 6 cellphones under his bed, what is going on?

Not 100% sure but I think it maybe linked to needs. Just like addicts are more likely to smuggle/steal narcotics, max or targeted prisoners stealing weapons, etc.

I have one prison where the family need not being completely met I was finding more phones.
It may have just been a coincidence.

I've never seen that many cellphones in one place.
Where are they all coming from, visitation?

Why would they get tons of cellphones because they're addicted to drugs or alcohol...?

They're getting thrown in and then they just go around the prison, this is what the lifetime for most, if not all cellphones looks like.

Not the addicts but prisoners not getting the family need met. The demand for certain items is based on individual prisoners need so I am speculating that the family need is contected to prisoners wanting phones and smuggling them in. Just a guess from my experience and I could be 100% wrong.

Forgot to add in myy original post that it could be mod related, I never seen so many phones.

I don't have any mods activated. The family need is fullfilled for most, if not all prisoners, since I have mail sorting rooms, payphones as well as a big visitation area.

None activated or never used any? Even a unactivated mod can cause a problem.

A deactivated mod still can cause problems with this game. I had an issue with graphics because of a mod that I was not using. I deactivated it before starting the new prison. Unsubscribing or not activating it still did not fix the problem. I needed to delete it manually from the mod folder. I also reinstalled the game just to be safe.

But that wouldn't make any sense since cellphones aren't worth ♥♥♥♥, since the supply is so high.

I don't have any mods installed that do anything to the AI, so I doubt that that's the case.

Because they are easy to smuggle in. They are not metalic or smelly so dog/metal detectors don't flag them. They can be sold for money to other prisoners (part of the new mechanics) and are desirable to any prisoner that might have a high family need, or one that is attempting to smuggle in drugs (arranging drop ect) I would also think (logically) gangs would want them for lieuitents and gang leaders to coordenate plays.

I doubt that the thing with the gang leaders is the case, but, seriously, why would the prisoner store 20 freaking cellphones in his bed to sell them? Wouldn't he just store up one and always have one with him which he then sells? That would make sense, instead of trying to inflate the market with all his luxuries.

Most likly he got a shipment (especially via pre arranged drop. this is usually a large amount of items, usually of the same type) that he is having issues off loading then. Again remember that prisoners are trying to smuggle eveything they can in. Nearly all metal stuff gets flagged in a well run prison and never really gets into the gen pop. Some (but not too much) smelly stuff will get through, but again most of it will be caught as dogs are a little less reliable.

However anything that is neither thing will have a higher liklyhood of accually making it to you prisoners' cells. Cell phones, lighters, and booze. they are the trouble contraband. If ther is not much demand he siply can't get rid of the goods.
