Prisoner intake bug?
Hi there,

I am playing on the latest alpha version FYI :)

So I have been making this new prison with a new layout which I quite enjoy so far. I have my intake on manual, so not on continuous. I had set my intake to 0 the moment I had 34 prisoners (which was 4 more than my first cellblock could handle). So then my second block finished, and I had room for 60 prisoners. I had 128 prisoners ready for intake and set it to take in 26 prisoners for the next intake so I had a nice number of 60 prisoners in my prison. I then turned it off again right after the intake (back to 0, like I did before).

However, this time the prisoners just kept coming. I checked my settings, but everything was set on not taking in any prisoners. I assume it's a bug, otherwise it would mean my inmates have started breeding like rabbits :P

The amount of prisoners was rising to 158 in a few minutes so was forced to shut down the game to avoid further chaos :P

Has anyone encountered this and maybe even know a solution?

FYI
Yes, I am using mods, but this has never occurred before, and these mods are completely unrelated to anything in connection to my prisoners or the intake. So I am 99% sure they are not the problem. I have tried turning them off in any case, but no difference.

Cheers,
The Doctor

Is this a new prison started after the alpha release

You mustve set it to ALL, so your prison would be at maxium capacity. Use the intake to get your required ammount, that set the intake to NONE. If you do that, it will say on your To Do list that it says that you aren't taking anymore prisoners. Thats what you want.
As always, keep on building! :)

If that didn't work, just simply report it on the offical forum and let the devs know.

try to find a way to repeat that glitch in the prisoner intake and report it to introversion on their mantis bug tracker, and mention it on (their dev forum) I've been having for 1 the shop either not working or disabling interest in programs, and solitary players getting stuck even though I had lots of open cells.

It's just nerve wracking now with them changing so many things on the fly now. I think I rebuilt my 3 most wanted prisons about 50 times now over the last year -_- though updates better than none, I just hope they fix the lag with big prisons!

edit: if you post a bug report, give introversion your save file also on the bug tracker.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the late response, i was in Ireland for a week (loved the holiday).

I checked my intake settings, I set everything on closed, yet prisoners still came in (min, med, max, and sup max all on closed). I tried ti set them open and then on none prisoners, but the same problem occured.

I tried repeating the glitch, but no succes.

Also, this prison was created about 12 days ago from this date.

I think I might have done something wrong either way, because it is hard to check since I have no auto save from before the problem occured. I will make a few new prisons and see if the problem occurs and then I will send in a bug report to the devs.

Thank you all for your help :)

Cheers

You say you have set the intake for everything to zero, sounds like that's where your problem is. The sliders only control the ratio of the different security types, setting them all to the leftmost part of the slider just makes them equal, it doesn't stop them from coming in. Actual intake numbers are controlled with the big red arrows below.

Peter,

Like I mentioned, I tried to both set them open and closed and set the # of intake to none. Neither methode worked. Yet thx for fully explaining this function, but I am afraid it does not help solve my problem.

hm, how about posting a screenie from your intake tab?

there's no such thing as supermax intake.

I have a thought, did you maybe have a back log of delivery trucks. I've gotten prisoners almost a day late due to queing issues when I do a big build. Prisoners don't acuualy get counted as 'in your prison' untill they are droped off, however you get paid when the counter ticks over.
