Prison Architect For iPad

I was watching the alpha 21 video by Introversion and at 11:22 in the video you can see someone's Mac desktop with an interesting file on it

For those who can't see it, the file is an ipa (iPhone/iPad app) with the name 'iPrisonArchitect 2'. Could this mean that an iPad version is coming?

Unlikely. The game is heavily CPU intensive, so there's no way it'd run on a tablet unless it was dumbed down.

And they're not going to do anything about other formats until after it's been released.

It's possible they might have plans for it, but they'll be long term. It's also possible that it's a plant designed to spark exactly this kind of topic.

The iWhatever naming scheme came about through Apple's computers, not their phones or tablets.

However the file extension shows that it is an iOS app. Mac OS apps do not have a file extension when shown on a Mac.

Intriguing. That .ipa file extension is curious.

It's not entirely unrealistic to think they tried compiling a version of the game for iOS, just as a bit of forward planning for when the main game is done, but I can't imagine it's at pace with the alpha or that it runs at all well! ;)

Lol who needs an app when you have the proper, FULL, MS Windows version? Just get a PC m8, and you will see your problems magically disappear :P

However some people like to play RTS games with a touch screen which is much easier than pointing and clicking

Source: Owns FTL on both the iPad and PC and likes the iPad version more due to it's easier input method.

Carrying the PC and 2 monitors around with me in the car and at work gets tiring after a while. I'm always needing to try and beg to use someones power sockets too. It'd be oh so much easier if i could do all that work on something that i carry around in my pocket on a day to day basis.

At least right now, with the current CPU's available, and the optimization of the game, there is no way it would run on a tablet. Put perhaps they plan on it with the full release, or shortly after, and they expect to have it optimized far greater at that time.

That being said, when I look at that screenshot, it just looks like a 79 mb sound file.

This is also why "Chirs? is that Chris?" have a long ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pause (trust me I hardly swear) in that Alpha video as he probably didn't expect the producer would say "let's go mobile" and yet the developer keep saying that we have been through so much and blah blah blah.
