Determination of the number of workers in a workshop
Hello, I would like to know if there is a way to determinate how many prisoners can work in a workshop.

I built a laaaaarge workshop for my prisoners to build stuff and make me rich, but then I cut it in half (I kept the exact same ammount of saws, workshop press, and carpenter tables). I optimized space and reduced a bit the number of tables.

The results :
From a large workshop with a 20 prisoners capacity, I ended up with 2 workshop "rooms" of 17 prisoners each. 20 turned into 2x17.

So here I am, I want to know how is calculated the number of prisoners that can work in a workshop. Is it related to the "equipment" of the room (carpenter tables, saws, pressn tables, square size...), the size of the room ... or maybe a bit of each?

Is there an algorithm that you could provide?

No, I can't provide an algorithm, but the smallest you can make a workshop and still have it have 20 jobs is 240m². It's all based on size and max workers is 20.

For Laundry and Cleaning Cupboard, that number is 80m².

Generally I make the Workshop 16x15 (18x17 Including Walls) so that I can align a Laundry or Cleaning Cupboard next to it at 16x5 (18x7 including walls).

That way every work room has 20 jobs. I don't know about Kitchens though as I never allow prisoners to work there, so I've never bothered finding out.

Wow, thanks a lot. I shall give it a try next time, I'm not sure I can do this on my current prison. Thanks for the tip.
But still, do I need a certain number of press and saws? or does the size only affects the number of workers? (but I can conclude that the number of saws and press affect the total "productivity", right?)

Only the size effects the number of prisoners you can assign to that room as a job.

However, they will need objects to work on if you don't want them standing around twiddling their thumbs during Work time. So yeah you'll need 15-20 in total of Saws, Presses and Carpentry Benches. Some prisoners will be moving stuff around so they won't always need objects to work on, but I put 20 in anyway.

Also be aware that for the Workshop Induction Program each prisoner attending will require a Workshop Saw each, and for Carpentry Program they'll need a Carpentry Bench each. Those will be the limiting factor to the number of prisons able to attend each program.

So, plan accordingly.

You can check out this guide for basic room sizes.

Thanks A LOT for this, you two, I should've checked this guide before (I thought it's was a guide for newbies, my bad).
