How to get rid of rubble?
I've got rubble blocking my doors. How do I get rid of it?

I've selected it but there is no options like dump or clean or anything, only "follow".

I've got plenty of janitors, gardners and workmen. But they refuse to clean up the rubble so that I can lockdown the prison doors.

Try the Clear Indoor Area tool.

If that doesn't work try Demolishing the tile the rubble is on and perhaps a few surrounding tiles. Then you can probably just rebuild the foundation.

Where is that tool located please?

Thanks

Found it, but nope that doesn't work.

I tried demolishing the tile but that just makes it worse, now there are multiple tiles of rubble that nobody is clearing away.

What gives, I don't see this as a widespread problem so why is my prison having this issue here and there. Most doors will close but there are a few that are simply blocked by rubble.

Definitely not common. My Workers have always cleaned up rubble by themselves. And you're absolutely positive the Workers have access to the area? Try left-clicking a Worker, then right-click near the rubble and see if he has problems getting to it.

You can also try opening the Objects menu then hovering your mouse pointer over the rubble to see if it has a tooltip like "Job queued - cleanup rubble" or it may have a red box with a message that says they can't access it.

Yup, I've made them walk over the rubble to get into the room, they stand there for a second and then go back to storage room.

I did forget to place a garbage room but then I did that and it cleared up the "trash" problem but the rubble remains blocking the doors.

No tool tips when hovering over the rubble.

Make a backup copy of your save file, then open it in Wordpad or other text editor. Search for "rubble" and when you think you've found the offending section, delete it, save the file, and load it in the game.

Be sure to delete the entire object section. It should start with something like:
BEGIN "[some letter and number]" (ID) (Type = Rubble)(coordinates) END. Delete everything from BEGIN to END. Don't worry about changing sequential numbers of all the other objects. The game will take care of that.

Okay, I tried that, I removed all 8 of the following lines:
BEGIN "" Id.i 92 Id.u 22860808 Type Rubble SubType 4 Pos.x 158.5274 Pos.y 82.22478 Or.x 0.1321103 Or.y 0.9912350 END

Of course the numbers change with each line.

However, when I did that the game refused to load up the prison save file.

I went back in and removed the 8 blank lines that I left behind.

Then the save loaded up but it was screwed up, all the electrical cables were gone, water pipes gone, delivery and garbage areas gone etc.

I have the same problem. Pretty much game breaking. I've been all over the internet, even submitted a bug report, yet nothing. My game was fine during early access but right before it was released this bug happened. It may have been mods, but however I un-activated all the mods yet still the same issue. If anyone can help please let me know

Only use Notepad++ for editing the saved games. Normal notepad in windows can't handle big files like that and will mess up.

I usually lock the door open and then the worker will clear the rubble that is blocking it. It is sort of like how a door can't be removed if it is jammed, but only locked open.

Workers really should not leave rubble blocking doorways, it causes so many problems.

Never open plain text files in with a office program like Wordpad, Microsoft Word, OpenOffice Writer and how they are all called.

You need a real Text Editor like notepad, notepad++. I prefer Ultraedit, but its a bit expensive for single use.

here a list of Text Editors:

I had this scenerio a few times. If the workers don't get to it with a good time I delete on of the walls beside it. I think it might be a bug!
