Sprinklers are usefull?!
If you install sprinklers, how do you do it and how many and where.
Had a little fire accident.

Sprinklers work like toilets, you have to connect them to a water supply and when there's a fire they simply dispense water into the nearby area.

I don't know about the where, I never had any fires at all, but I suppose crossings and corridors seem sensible.

Thats disgusting...

But yea they can be handy to have even though fire risk is very minimal in the game. Ive had 1 fire since I bought the game nearly 2 years ago.

At the moment most fires are electrical fires (e.g. the water pump will leak water if you disassemble it, and is likely to cause a fire if the resulting puddle touches the substation you probably placed nearby) so it is probably not wise to add more water...
On the other hand, it is probably not realistic to add different types of fire fighting equipment (water, liquid foam, dry powder, CO2 gas fire extinguishers) to be deployed against specific classes of fires.

i am not sure how the fire broke out but i think i had all with high electric far away from my pumps (they are in the yard see screenshot)

Prisoners can get hold of lighters and start fires if they get pissed off.

But any high-electrical item near water will cause a fire. Like if your showers are near metal detectors. If one of the drains breaks, water could get near it. And other situations like it.

was probably a prisoner ...

the last time i installed a sprinkler it was that that caused the electrical fire ironically

so now i don't install them in cell blocks or anywhere prisoners are

i only install them in staff rooms, security room, armoury etc where my staff go

let the prisoners burn :D

Just wait until you get some legendary prisoners haha by god. Had quite a bit of my prison burn down :P

you mean like this little b****?

i had around 10 of them -.-
with a 900 person prison its almost impossible to stay below 20 deaths when there is one single prisoner like the one in the screenshot he killed around 2 guards per day

Sprinklers cover a 7x7 square area. I generally place a power switch and a water shutoff valve outside my kitchens and laundry rooms (with the sprinklers on a different pipe than the washers/sinks). Volatile prisoners in solitary will also sometimes start fires. Or just very angry prisoners (rarely). They are not meant to put out the fire, only to help slow it down and contain it. You still need to call emergency services fire department.

very usefull information thank you very much

I've actively tried every high-electrical object immersed in water in an attempt to make a 'death-cell' for my more 'irritating' inmates.

The only electrical object that I've found to actually kill them when they finally go in the shower is a power generator sitting in his cell with him.

After the first generator test worked and ended up burning down a quarter of my prison, the 'death cell mk II' has been placed a fair way away from everything else. It needs partly rebuilt after every guest but it works a charm.

In a roundabout way I guess I'm saying that there's no need to worry about metal detectors and things in a puddle.

Come to think of it I never tried fridges, cookers or washing machines. That might make the process ALOT less expensive......

you did see my screenshot just wall them in they will eventually die cause they get nothing to eat
flyingthruwater Aug 15, 2015 @ 2:53pm
Yeah but that takes weeks of gametime for them to die and is a lot less entertaining
