Shops
The shops in my priosn aren't working? is this a bug or my error?

no, for some reason the shop counter has to be inside the shop, meaning that if you hava a shop, you'll need to build a wall and place the shop counter there whilst the entire room is declared as shop.

well, the wall must contain to the room of the shop.

to look which wall depends to the shop in which are to the neighbour room, you should look at the deployment screen.

also a shop front to an outdoor area always works.

also there must be much things suitet that prisoners will buy sth from shop:

1. the prisoner needs free time
2. the prisoner needs a need, that can be fulfilled from shop
3. the shop has to be open (worktime!)
4. the prisoner needs money (5$)
5. the shop should be the nearest option to satisfy the need

for case 1+3 its best if u have your different security levels to different work time, while the other have free time

But they fixed something with the shop for the next alpha. But only the devs know what they exactly changed.

at the moment only one shop front per shop is used.

It's not really that bugged (some small placement problems do exist), but it's a bit pointless the way it works right now. The only real reason for a prisoner to buy something is a need for food. It's simply unnecessary in a well run prison.

2 tpyes of prisoners are need i found 1 level is working and 1 level on free time that the same time

This shop worked the best for me and brought in from $750-950 a day. The screen shot was taken in the morning during max security yard time right after getting up and their shower. So they had there highest needs of the day thast the shop could provide.

There are some glitches with the shop.

1. Prisoners may not take the carpentry class if you have a shop. I had no prisoners interested in the program then immediatley after deleting the shop there were 22 interested.

2. Delivery of crates is not based on need so you end up getting crates you do not need to stock the shelves and end up having to dump crates to get the shelves stocked.

3. Only one shop front will be used per shop.

Numbers 1 and 3 I believe have been fixed by the dev and we will get the fix with the next update.

I ended up getting rid of the shop since it became too much management to ensure the shelves continued to be stocked.

For the people who do not understand why you need to put the shop front in a wall it is a security measure. Makes sense not to allow every prisoner to have access to the items on the shelves and crates.

Ok. Still a little confuesd as that's sort of what i'm doing. In my prison there is a high needs for a lot of things, it's kinda going badly. for me.

theres tones of threads explaining why its not working people are fed up of answering them even more so when the devs make videos explaining how it works

Not only carpentry is affacted, also all the other reform program. (But with carpentry its extrem, cause basically there are already less prisoner interested

That's not what i ment.
I have some problems with shop, but as Trixi said, - ' its best if u have your different security levels to different work time, while the other have free time' - just do this and shop will work
