Emergency blast doors!
Though my prisons rarely devolve into a chaotic nonsense murderfest, I've recently started liking adding "emergency" doors. The way I do them is:

1) Set up remote doors in hallways.
2) Servo the remote doors.
3) Connect servos to logic gates that blast out a signal keeping them open.

Now I'd like to ask the community help with brainstorming a cool way of doing the meat part of 4). Basically the effect I'm looking for is a nice switch or button you can go to, that will effectively section off the prison into small compartments between your remote doors, while keeping the doors within those areas fully functional (as opposed to the general "Lockdown"-function).

So far I've tried setting the logic gate to a Not-type state, thus blasting the signal by itself, and simply needing to cycle the gate into another state to cut the signal and shut the doors down. The problem with this is that several states in the logic gate sends the signal and several don't, so it's a bit of a hassle to cycle through them to initiate the lockdown, and to clear it out again.

An alternate using an actual switch was to have the logic gate send out the signal as before, but this time connect it to a branch off of the power grid which could be switched off with the power switch. The problem with this approach was that from flipping the switch to the doors closing took about ten seconds, as it accounted to the lag between cutting the power from the grid, shutting off the gate and removing the signal.

What would you suggest as an approach for a quick, low hassle emergency button?

And for those wondering, of course this whole system is rigged into a series of signal lights around the prison which will light out a disco when the button is pressed to give the one-two punch effect of alerting everyone that the button has been pressed... and that the party is on!

I assume you've tried dual opposing logic switches? Find out which one wins, then Power Switch it off for effect. Your post is very interesting though, got me thinking to try something like this.

i did something like this to make a gauntlet run for the prisoners. I set up a large outdoor fenced strip wtih a continuously open gate on the outside. and a bunch of pressure plates in at about halfway down the gauntlet. when the prisoners see the open gate they think : yay , freedom, - and they make a run for it.waiting for them at the end are a bunch of guards ready to taser them, and if they make it to half way, they step on the pressure plates which auto shuts the gate, on both sides, leaving them trapped and awaiting their paddlin.

What I would do is make a separate power station (Or a clean energy source to make more money from the going green DLC.) and hook it up to a power switch, then lob the electrical cable off to some solitary doors because the solitary doors only close when they have electricity.

(You should set the solitary doors to the ¨locked shut¨ mode, so that staff/prisoners with jail keys cant open the door)

You dont even have to have the power switch, you can just turn off the power station and turn it on when you want to close the doors.

Also, you could just create a separate branch of the electricity cable from your main power station, and connect them to your solitary doors, and just hook up a power switch to the cable connecting all of the solitary doors to the power station.

(The power switch would be the emergency button.)
