How do I make new prisoners move into their cells?
Every time I have a new intake of prisoners, the prisoners are just shackled up and just sit their usually in reception or outside.. I can't seem to find a way to force police officers to bring them to their cells? I've increased the number of police officers but quite a bit and the prisoners are still not being moved? do I just need to hire a massive load of police officers?

I've looked at the jobs menu in the reports section and I can see that the job for "escorting prisoners to cell" is right at the bottom, and it keeps getting pushed further and further down.. is there anyway I can make them get escorted? also, these prisoners who haven't been moved are also dying of starvation as they are also not being fed... the job for "feeding prisoner" is also at the bottom of the list and is pushed right to the bottom.. I keep getting penalised and am constantly loosing money from this...

I know the game isn't finished yet, but I just wanna know if anyone else have had the same problem here and if there is a solution? maybe I'm just not seeing it...

thanks

Can you please post a screnshot. The most likly problem is a prison that is not fully secure, or incorrectly set up cells.

make sure each individual cell is designated as a cell in "rooms". Not the whole cell block.

I'm seeing the same thing. I'm at 132/196 capacity, yet I've got prisoners just wandering around in my holding cell and reception area. They're not being fed so they're all slowly starving to death.

I haven't been able to figure out how to get them to move to cells. They just seem to be stuck in limbo.

Because you asked for a screenshot and seem to believe it is user error: http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/689397570022599133/1DB07DDE966611CF037DA0FB3231E016FC65C102/

Its a bug.

There is ample space in my prison, yet some prisoners just do not get escorted to a cell for some reason. This prisoner has been hanging out in my infirmary for many days now. He's been repeatedly treated for starvation health damage but he will not go into a cell.

The entire map is surrounded by a perimeter fence. Prisoners are not allowed outside of their cell block except under special circumstances, like a parole hearing or for healthcare. Contraband in my prison is close to 0.

The other 157 prisoners have all found cells, but not this one. If it was a problem with my prison then why did everyone else get to a cell just fine?

I had a bunch of other prisoners also refuse to go to cells. I've been able to, more or less, manually assign them cells, but I still find them wandering around outside of their cells, stuck and unable to do anything. Guards don't escort them back to their cells either. I have to repeatedly manually re-assign them to cells.

Everything seems to work much smoother now that I got rid of the reception and holding rooms. After getting rid of these rooms new prisoners go straight to cells. These two rooms seem to cause problems where prisoners are found with contraband on intake, resulting in them getting stuck.

I think it is a bug,... maybe it's not... the game is still a work in progress I guess so they're probably still need to iron a few things out...

I kind of found a solution to my problem...it's because I had too many armed guards (I thought they'd behave the same as a normal guard but they don't.. they just walk around witha gun and don't do anything else)... but even then, I had 40 guards, 6 dog patrols and 4 armed guards to 74 prisoners......I think that should have been more than enough anyway...

anyway, I resolved this by firing all my armed guards and hiring like an extra 10 guards... I also reduced the number of guards being deployed in areas so there will be extra/excess of normal guards and even then, the rate at which these prisoners were being escorted into their cells was at a snails pace....

I hope they add some sort of function where they let us prioritise which job/task is done first (e.g. when you want a prisoner searched, that job is prioritised above everything else.. hope they'll let us chose which ones gets prioritised, or maybe they'll make escorting prisoners to cell more of a priority).....

I've had 3 naked prisoners die from starvation in the reception area and there's just poo everywhere....

Don't forget there is cell quality now, so you can't make all your cells the same. You have to have some low one and higher end ones. If prisoners don't qualify for the cell quality that you have they will just stay in holding.
Yeah all my prisoners are sitting in reception and starving and outside starving dead bodys everywhere and ambulance backed up for miles doing nothing : ( And i have a huge kitchen with about 12 cooks and my 86 prisoners still wont get fed i have 26 cookers 10 freezers.

Oh really ? Oh man i built a 80 man cell block all level 3 rooms.

You can build all one quality lvl cells, as long as they are 3 or lower (that is the max number prisoners will cycle into directly) If you build all your cells at a higher quaility lvl as OP did (I think those are what 5's?) it causes issues. Your answer is in the prisoner screen. He's not able to finish his lockdown because he doesn't rate one of your 'nice' cells so ther is no place for him to be 'locked down' The starvation only adds to the issue as guards/doctors will be constantly moving him to the infirmery. Try punishing him with solitary instead. Provided your logistics are set correctly the gaurd will deliver his food, fixing the starvation/ health loss issuse. You will need to keep an eye on him and occasionaly send doctors in to heal untill meal time.
You might want to consider adding a holding cell. It just generally makies things run more smoothly.

all my cells have been the same so far? I didn't know there was something called cell quality... I rarely ever get any prisoners in holding at all.. the prisoners that I have are all assigned in cells and the ones that are not are usually the new intakes which either sit in reception naked and starve or sit outside the prison and starve O.o
