Hygiene Issues

I have maximum security prison block. every prisoner has his own cell. with his own shower in each cell. i have free time right before bed. and the hygiene level is zero in all my prisoners. but as they sleep. at 1am the hygiene level goes full yellow. at 2am it goes orange. at 3am. it is red. but morning time my inmates are rioting. Why is this? why so drastic. i've NEVER had this issue before. only work around ive found is to wake them at 2am and force shower and then back to sleep. Is this just me? or is this every game? cause its F'n stupid.

how many prisoners do you have? sounds like something that might happen when your prison is beyond your cpu limits

I have 30 Max security prisoners. I was expecting bugs so i have my prison on bare minimum so i can try to navigate this broken ass game. if 30 prisoners is stretching the CPU limits. they should probably just turf this game. Another bug i'm having is the heads of the prisoners are clipping with their bodies and its cutting off half their face. which looks stupid. ill get a list of bugs ive found and ill take pictures. What i want to know is this isolated just to me? or is everybodys games littered with different bugs? Another noticeable bug is my Security level is always around 3-6 bars reading (medium) yet all my prisoners needs are taken care of and noone seems angry yet the security level is off the charts. (never experienced this before in my 700 hours playing) and then of course the 1am - 4am. zero hygiene to max hygiene issue. that ♥♥♥♥ is annoying.

ok so that's weird.
I think your game is corrupted.
The "danger" mechanic has been going haywire since paradox. there were many reports of it behaving weird

But i just started this prison! :( only put 50 hours into it. I mean like it works. i still enjoy playing it. i just have to put a lock down slot 2am in the regime to let them shower and then they dont riot in the morning.. small work around. but i prided my prison on my security threat level being zilch. and now its just rollarcoastering all day long and nobody is visibly upset. Hopefully they fix it before they pump other DLC bugs into the game. Won't hold my breath

My prisoners will often ignore their hygiene need, in spite of having showers in their cells, all while whining about their hygiene need. Interestingly, putting showers in the yard helped. They would rather shower on their free time in the yard than in their cells during the 'shower' regime. I'm thinking of just removing it and giving them all free time first thing to see if they don't just shower.

Mine hasn't gotten as bad as yours yet, thankfully.

A lockdown or free time slot the first hour they wake up gives them a chance to shower. If they wake up and have to go to work/parole/canteen right away they'll all be grumpy and starting fights with each other. The hygiene does go through the roof over night though, and is sometimes worse than other times for some reason.

Yes. ive tried everything. shower before bed. shower at 6am. the only thing that works is lockdown 2am slot. they all shower and then 7am lock down before free time. they are fine. but if i remove that 2am slot and replace it with sleep. full blown riot.

But yeah srs if you're giving them their own showers, they won't use them unless you give them free tome or lockup. I think the 'shower' regime means 'go to a shower zone' not 'shower'

You know what? That actually makes sense. Not sure why I didn't think that might be the case before. Anyway, I started giving everyone freetime first thing and they are (mostly) showering. There are still a few who won't and then will complain they have low hygiene but they are far fewer than before.

I like morning lockdown so it's "wake up, do your business, you have an hour" and they are very inclined to get their bathroom needs in order, prepare for a busy day.
