Parking Lots and Infrastructure
I know 36 was the final alpha but maybe this could be considered as a next big thing that can change the way staff works.

Parking lots would allow day and night shifts to come and go. Half the portion of the guards and janitors/groundkeepers staffed will arrive at day in their little cars and park, only to leave and for the night shift to arrive.

It would certainly be more realistic than the staff permanently residing at the facility.

It could also mean an increase in infrastructure planning by allowing you to build additional roads. Maybe.

Sounds like a good idea :D:
I think that's unnecessary detail. It would be a step away from the original game design. On top of that it would lead to immense delays. Guards running from the parking lot to the other side of the prison all day long, workmen leaving while building a wall so the next shift can finish it. Tedious and slows the game by a lot.

Those are good things in my opinion. The devs wanted it to be more difficult and managed... I believe my idea adds to it.

What you are adding is not difficulty, it's just another time-eater.

While it is realistic, it is also a serious departure from existing gaming conventions. Honestly many games do not even inclusde a need to rest mechanic that mostly takes the place of leaving. Going contrary to those established conventions makes things more difficult for new players. It is always a balancing act, but I'm not sure the payout in game experiance is worth the additon to the learning curve, as well as the programing time and system recources.

Not liking that idea at all; you'd need double the amounts of guards for starters.

I usually make parking lots around the prison, but if I were to wish for a change to the gameplay :

1. Tilesets for roads and parking lots (like white lines in the road, stripes for parking spaces, parking blocks, etc).

2. THE HOLY GRAIL = The ability to lay down your own roads and decide which direction traffic comes from. No more having to have the road on the right going north to south, but could make it east to west on the bottom if you want.

#2 would make random maps with lakes fare more fun to play
according to page 31 of the game bible it suggests making parking space for Admin Staff... How do you making parking space exactly?

the game bible is only a collection of ideas.

some are implemented, some ideas has changed and are implemented in another way, some ideas were thrown and some there are already planning to implement.
It's a nice idea but I don't think it's necessary or worth adding. It would severely screw up the existing wages balance unless they halved the cost of staff to make up for practically doubling the amount of staff needed. Plus I can't think of many other management games that run that way. You just have to kind of suspend disbelief that the staff are there 24/7 ;)

They can always go rest in the staff room! ;)

You wouldn't need double the amounts of guards. You need maybe one per wing. And K9 outside and/or armed, in case of break out attempt.

Mail sorting doesn't need to be staffed

Reception doesn't need to be staffed

Phone surveillance doesn't need to be staffed

Visits doesn't need to be staffed

Guards who guard things like classrooms (if you do guard them) don't need to be on duty etc.

Only guards who are currently on duty would be paid so you don't have double the cost, infact with night staff being not as much as during the day, you would save salaries.

Shift change should be that only those who have their replacement standing next to them should be able to go home. So you don't end up with guards leaving their post without replacement guard.
