No trays?
I have multiple canteens, and one of them has no trays in it? What is going on?

Is there a serving table in the canteen? Do you have a kitchen set up to deliver food to the table?

Yes and yes.

So what happens exactly? Prisoners go to the Canteen to get their food and just stand around idle? Because they can't pick up a tray?

Does your kitchen have enough staff to clean dirty traits in the sinks? Are the sinks connected to water pipes?

The sink works, they just sit there and dont eat. There is more than enough food ready and 4 chefs.

I deleted all the trays I had in my prison once cause of similar issue, it sorted it out for me, maybe try that?

Yep, it can happen when you switch around your inmates. Just dump all the dirtys collected in other kitchens, or add mroe serving tables. 4 chefsreally isn't many for 2 canteens though.

Depends entirely on the size of said canteens...

No, 4 chiefs is never very many. They have to clean up, and make the treck to your storage area to get more ingrediants after each meal. Typically if you hare running 2 canteens you usually want at least 10 cooks. I'm guessing OP has a small prison population atm, but he will need to keep an eye on this as his prison will grow beyond that very quickly.

Again - Depends entirely on the scale of your operation. Four chefs can easily stock a large canteen. Add some prison labor on top and you've got even more.

TLDR; "Two Canteens" is not a unit of measurement - If anything, tables are because they restrict the number of meals.

While it might be suficient for running a very small prison, most likly no more then 25-50 inmates, it is not a yea that's obviously enough number. All I'm saying is if OP is building more then 1 canteen it usually because he is planning on a decent number of prisoners, and that amount of cooks isn't going to do it for long so he will need to keep an eye on things.

And again I have to point out that Canteens aren't fixed sizes... You can build one with room for 8 prisoners or 80.
lissa_981 Sep 21, 2015 @ 2:29am
You are correct they are not, which is why just throwing out : yea, I have 4 cooks is not enough to immediatly emliminate it as an issue. If OP said I have 20 cooks for instance it would be a yea, most likly not an issue. Hence my recomendation that he keep an eye on those cooks.
Although I run prisons that require almost 200 cooks at peek volume, with 80 prisoners working the kitchens for 15 hours a day, so yea, 4 cooks.. not really a lot.

Wish you can have mine.....
Stacks of tray just appears every once in a while that I have to manually dump them to get a better view

This happens when you've added a canteen but not yet logistically linked it to a cell block. During this transition period, it will show as an active canteen with no demand, and thus no need for trays. I do this adding/linking on pause to prevent the canteen from going active without demand, which consequently keeps all the trays in the new canteen from immediately getting transfer orders to the old canteen, which does show a demand.

You can remedy it by dumping trays. The new trays will get delivered to active canteens with demand as per needed.
