The only thing they need the yard for is freedom and exercise needs. You can give them exercise by putting weight benches inside the canteen or another room on the regime. If you put it in the common room I think they use it during free time and work time (if they aren't working that is.)

Freedom is a little harder but I think giving them free time might relieve it. Not sure. I know that keeping them under armed guard or locked down in their cells increases their freedom need by a lot.

Is there any different bettwen indoor and outdoor yard?

You don't have to supress them, just increase thier free time. There doen't seen to be any difference in functionality in an indoor, outdoor, or canteen/yard. As long as prisoners can acess it al thier needs except freedom can be met. I do have a prison up on the workshop called no yard if you want to look at it for ideas, but basicaly here is the layout:

well, you can try to make all hallways outdoor, that their freedom need is a bit satisfied while they are walking, except the hallways of the cell block. If you do make them outdoor, your laundry service dont work properly anymore, as every cell generates his own cell block to deliver the clothes.

I prefer everthing to be indoor EVERYTHING

I don't mind outdoor yards as a rule, it is cheeper ans allows for different floor textures to break up th color pallet. I did think of one possible downside, I don't think prisoners will run for exersize in an indoor yard, and have never seen them to that in the canteen setup I have above. It's not a huge deal as you can easily add more exersize benches though.

I generally build indoor yards, never have an issue with the prisoners exercising... they run around like I've seen in the outdoor yards. I agreed with the floor texture comment though...

Thanks for the correction. The game totally needs more floor tiles/colors. If anyon knows a decent mod with more floors please let me know.

Building outdoor yard.Make me fell that something is missing

I agree. The only reason that one isn't outdoor is cause it's not a yard it's a canteen, and those can't be outdoor *cry*.
