Better control of what areas my inmates can access.
I was discussing this with a couple of guys on the facebook page and decided to bring it here to see if any modders were interested in giving it a go.

Basically the complaint is that we assign prisoners to cells and build facilities accordingly. But my med-sec guys can go off wandering around any med-sec area. So you get loads of them using one yard etc when the one closest to their block is empty. Essentially their is no control over which facilities your prisoners use ther than by changing the security level.

What I would love to see is a way of creating named prison blocks, for example med-sec A wing, med-sec B wing etc. And then have the ability to assign rooms to occupants of that wing only. There are a couple of ways we came up with that we think this could be achieved. First we could have the ability to create custom security sub-classes, so all within med-sec but med-sec A wing, med-sec B wing....etc. Now as far as the game is concerned it treats these as separate classes for zoning etc but they are all still classed as med-sec prisoners. Secondly it was suggested that we could use a system similar to the micro mangement one currently in use. You could assign common rooms, yards, canteens etc to a specific cell, cell bock or group of blocks etc.

What do you guys think? Would this make the game better for you and could it be done?

Anyone interested in doing it?

Thanks for reading everyone.

I always wanted new deployment buttons like
No Max Sec here or No Med sec and the ability to put two securities in one place like

In 1 canteen Min and Med Sec only or Protected and Min Sec only

They go to the closest accessible yard from where they are when the clock strikes, not from their cell block. But you can put them in Lockdown for an hour so they return to their cells. Then if it goes to Yard, they'll go to the closest one.

I've never had more than one yard per security level anyway. But options are good...

Yeah that's a workaround Jank, a clunky one but yeah. The point is we don't want half assed mechanics, we should be able to designate who goes where.

I want to be able to assign no min/mid/max sec area. But they need to change the deployment screen or it'll look too chaotic.
If they introduced ABC wings then things would become a lot more comfortable. You could easily establish seperated Gang areas without changing their security level, you could set up a quarantine zone without having to go through the hassle of reassigning every prisoner to Low Sec for example, which requires three clicks. Instead it's much faster to just click prisoner, rightclick wing. (And if one day there is multi-prisoner-select that's even better)

Use doors to segregate portions of the prison. Then make a small staff only section between 2 doors to stop the flow where you dont want them to go. Its not perfect but only way I found to do it. But it does mean making smaller laundries and such for each segregated area.

If I knew how I would, and it would work in well with my idea for better controlling where different people can go.

Here is an image of the kind of system I'm thinking of. (The stunning artwork was done by me :P)

Looks interesting, but i think it just would be better with the ability to "staff" instead of gardeners, janitors, ect. And maybe doing so the visitors not can go through the area
