Just noticed that each job has it's own group of prisoners assigned
there are 7 jobs for prisoners to work but cleaning cupboard is the most useless one and mailroom is just asking for contraband when theres plenty of ways to sastify family and recreation. that leaves us only 5 jobs to use and since you can have up to 5 groups that means each group is assigned their own job.

Laundry (no Contraband) = Super Max (legendaries and the worst inmates have no way to get contraband)

Shop (no contraband if dogs/metal detectors at the entrance of your prison/shop) = Max Security (your second worst inmates still have no contraband)

Workshop (Weapons, Tools, Metal) = 5 contrabands = Medium Security = general population gets the most important job which is to make money for the entire prison and their threat level with these contrabands is medium and they get the job that has the most contraband.

Kitchen = (Tools and Weapons, Metal) = 3 contrabands = Low Security = there's 3 contrabands in here so give it to the group with the lowest threat level.

Library (Scissors, Weapons, Metal) = 1 contraband = PCs get this job since it has the lowest possible contraband. just watch out for those snitches that have other trouble making traits so you might want to give those special PCs no work at all.

Cleaning Cupboard (2 contrabands and a useless job) = Not worth assigning workers to and so you don't feed them their drug addictions.

Mailroom = not worth assigning workers to since family recreation and comfort can be fullfilled in multiple ways. its only good if your prison dont have enough freetime to get all three needs completed since reading a letter fills all 3 needs at the same time.

You want to give Low Sec the jobs with the most contraband? You're insane, because Low Sec are the most likely to have the Thief trait. These suckers LOVE stealing anything that isn't nailed down, on top of the new delivery ingredients bringing in various different kinds of contraband, not only the static "knife, fork, spoon"

I've tryed that, but at the end of the day, if you have plenty of metal detectors and dogs the only things your inmates are getting is booze and lighters. I'd rather make all my prisoners work lol.

not when your intake is only Max prisoners so you have to assign each max prisoner to a group:

No Traits = Low Security

VOLATILE, STOICAL, FEARLESS, QUICK, INSTIGATOR = Medium Security

STRONG, TOUGH, DEADLY, COP KILLER, FIGHTER = Max Security

2 or more traits from Max, Extremes, Legendaries = Super Max

SNITCH, EX COP = Protective Custody

your unknown reputation prisoners are put into medium security until their reputation is known at which point they will be transfered to their proper group.

this is how you run a max, super max, and PC only prison therefore assigning jobs to certain groups reduces their reoffending chance and limits the amount of contraband around your prison as your general population has access to most of the contraband while your least trouble making prisoners get access to the kitchen since they are less likely to do things with weapons.

and since you have assigned groups this way it cuts down on having extra guards in your prison since you can assign more security to patrol the workshops to handle general population while you need little or no guards in the laundry areas since the super max prisoners have no access to contraband.

less guards = more income

I assign Quick, tough, fearless, and copkillers to low
Strong, fighter, Stoic, instagator to med
volite, and deadly to High

2 or more Volitle, Instagator or Cop killer to S. Max persona;;y.
I find keeping those 3 traits apart seriously negates any trouble in your prison.

you guys forgot to tell me about mail room. good looking out :P

I like the mail room. It is unskilled labor, and can be used to pretty much elilminate visitation. I get far less contraband through the 5 metal detectors, and 8 dog patrols that they have to make it through to be sorted then I do from visitation.

you do volatile and instigator together? that perfect, the volatle start a fight with an instigator, and the instigator makes all other also to fight in that area.

well the thing is that if i separate them both they will start problems in the low and max wings so better to just put them in medium since i can't afford to have them mess up low security inmates who are behaving good and reforming and i can't have them messing up the max prisoners that are doing their best to reform and not get sent to super max. if one of them start something in medium then everyone involved in that fight gets bumped to max including them unless that prisoner doesn't gain any reputation from that fight.

medium is sort of the "let's seperate the men from the boys" so if you start something in medium you get bumped up to max and if u behave in medium u get dropped to low with the rest of the well behaved prisoners. and if your the guy that keeps going between both low and max then u stay in medium where u belong.

You do that manually, everytime someone arrives to the prison?
lissa_981 Oct 25, 2015 @ 10:31am
That's why I send them of med and max respectivly. Cop killers go to min sec cause nothing ever happens in min sec.. no fights, so there is no reason for my gaurds to beat prisoners uncouncious. SInce the game works off a bioling point mechanic and instagator raise the bioling point of those around them, and volitiles simply have a lower boiling point, it the double wammy that is almost impossible to work out. As long as you keep prisoners needs consistantly met then a single lvl of raise doesn't seem to mean too much.

I usually make max-sec only prisons, in which I fill every single job with max-sec prisoners. Never had a big problem with contraband.
