Kitchen, Storage Room, and Delivery Area

So do cooks gather ingredients from storage rooms? All I've noticed is that they travel really far to get ingredients from the delivery areas. Placing a storage room next to the kitchen doesn't seem to help at all to reduce the travel times.

Any ideas on how to cut down the travel time to get ingredients?

Why would ingredients be stored in the Storage?
That's what Fridges are good for.

You can put your Deliveries further inside, so the Workmen and truck drivers do more of the work, or hire more cooks to do the carrying.
