No-staff areas
Hey, is it possible to assign any kind of No-Staff areas in your prison? Because i have a supermax prisoner with a little yard and my guards walk to the guard. Is there anything a can do to prevent them from doing it?

Okay, think it through ;)

Why would you have an area in the prison where guards can't go?

If you have a particularly dangerous yard that's only for the worst of the worst, make sure it's set well away from all other areas staff who aren't guards would use, and make sure you assign seriously heavy duty guards to that area permanently ;)

Those are Idle zones.
If guards don't have anything to do then they go to one of their idle zones.
Yards, Canteen, Deliveries, Security Office.

Maybe instead of a new Staff Zone, how about a way to see where Staff are resting/idling, and the ability to change it? And maybe make the AI more smart.

Because I have a big problem in my prison where I have a few staffrooms and Security rooms all around. But Guards won't go look at Door Controls or Cameras, even when there are 10 guards in the room for no reason!

The problem I had tho, was that to get to that part of the prison, there is a Remote Door blocking it. And every minute or so, the guards on the Door Controls rotate. However, the new guard going to the Door Controls, is OUTSIDE the area, so he and everyone else goes up to the Remote Door, and gets stuck. Because he is on the wrong side when he was sent to go take over control, and the other 20 guards in the Security room will not activate it. I have to keep it Perminately open at all times now, which is stupid as heck!

And I don't even know why whenever it switches over to a new guard, the new guard is always outside of the staff only area, since the Staff Room, Security Room, Armory, and everything else Staff Related is in the Staff ony Area.

--

Anyways. Another problem I have with the Resting/Idling of Guards is that I have a section set off to the side for Max prisoners, and have a Security station and Staff room over there. It's way off from everything else. Yet other staff will wander all the way over to it, for no reason! and the guards in the Security room will not stay in it long, and will wander off back to the main complex even tho it's so far away from everything around them. Which causes problems, because to get into the Sectioned off sector, you need to pass a Remote Door... which the guards just don't want to stay around to activate, even if there are many of them in the Security Room, or even Deployed there! Why couldn't the Door Controls act like Staff/Jail doors for guards? Where when someone tries to use the Remote Door, if a guard isn't already on it, one nearby will auto go open it for everyone, as long as they are allowed into the area.

Not sure which you wanted to see lol

This is the first one in my main prison. http://i62.tinypic.com/21b7klk.jpg It's right at the front of the prison.

And this is the second one. http://i62.tinypic.com/2a50n0m.jpg That's more isolated away from the Main one slightly. Has it's own yard, canteen, common room and everything as you see. But some Staff from the Main Prison will go over to this Staff Room, and I bought 5 new guards in this Security Room, but as you can see, only 1 stays in there actually doing anything... The others just wonder off...

I just recommend you building them well-close to the main areas of your prison :)

They are close, kinda lol The second one is right in the middle of the little side area. And the first is right at the Entrance to the Prison, and in the top left the Remote Door perminately open leads to the Yard in the Semi Center, slightly right, of the main Prison.

Tho logically, why would you want the Security room close to the main areas? That makes it earlier for Prisoners to break in, kill the guards, and take over lol Especially since the only exit out, can only be opened from the First one lol and to get into the Second area, is also from the first one lol Really don't want Prisoners able to easily get to it.

True but if you not have too many guards in the area you got security in then for example your cctv cams will have a longer time where there is no visibility in the areas with cctv cams or doors

That is actually the Game's fault. If you deploy a guard to the Security room, they 'patrol' it and won't touch the Consoles. And you can't Manually click a guard and tell them to use it. They won't even Auto use it to open the door for someone like they do with Jail/Staff Doors. It's completely random!

And what's more, as I pointed out the Guards and Staff will wander ANYWHERE to Idle. It's not even the Closest room, it's completely 100% random.

It's like Prisoners working. Someone gets assigned to the Console randomly, then they path to the Console. However, if the path is blocked... Because say they have to go to the Door Control... THROUGH the door the Control Console Opens, it glitches. Because they never make it to the post, so their 'timer' doesn't actually start for staying at that post. They will just Perminately be sitting at the door, along with everyone else, waiting for it to be opened. And no other guard will touch the Console, because the one Asigned to it, is still on his way.

Guards, all 3 types, need more things to do. Normal Guards you can Desinate to rooms, but K9 and armed can only Patrol, and if you don't have them Patrolling, they just stop moving and will stand in an area, till they are asigned to patrol. I've even seen 2 Armed Guards not do anything while standing in the middle of a 10 man Riot, because they weren't asigned to Patrol. It's bonkers. Especially since Prisoners freak out about the Number of Armed Guards you have, no matter if they are Patroling and staying in a very tiny Isolated area. Everyone else still is effected by them as if they are watching everything all the time.

Well i havnt thought about the thing with manually setting them to a control system.
Also i havnt neither tried the thing with the armed guards i mean, it sounds pretty strange for me.
But you are true about the part, with you can't assign the other kind of guards to be stationed at a room, i miss that too actually

P.S: Sorry for my grammar

This remains a valid thread with questions unanswered.

It seems I cannot control when workers, janitors, gardeners enter an area, or more to the point, I wish to restrict access until certain times of the day.

Take for example, I wish my prisoners to experience a sense of "freedom" lol, by not having overbearing security all the time. However, I wish to have a period of time during sleep where I up the guards so maintenance can be undertaken in greater security.

However, workers enter high security areas whenever, and I have no control over this.

How can I prevent staff, including guards, from entering an area?

At the moment, I am having to resort to highering a constant stream of new staff due to the slight unfortunate circumstances of the constant flow of dead staff bodies.
