less than lethal Guards?
I been playing PA for a while now and its a great game. So the armed guards with pump-action shotguns are kinda op too me. I do love them because they can get you out of a jam real quick. The only thing is that most of the time my max security prisoners and gang members dont comply so they get blasted. I know i should be posting this on the main forum but i wish they would add in a less than lethal Guard. They could carry less than lethal shotguns and maybe tazzers or teargas would be Cool. I feel like my prison lacks less than lethal crowd control tatics, other then shotty to the face. :guard:

I do like your point of view, however, what could they do for the less lethal guards. The idea of teargas is good but what else. Once you unlock tazer rollout, they usually do one shot. The idea of a less lethal gun is also good. I dont think these less lethal guards should have shotguns though, maybe handguns. You have to also remember they have tried to base Prison Architect like a real sim. I dont think prisons have different types of lethal guards. Otherwise, i agree with you 100%. Great thing for a full version.

Good point. Well, maybe they could add a less than lethal firearm research. This would give Bean bag shotguns or handguns to normal guards. With the teargas maybe they can make it a sub-research next to the "less than lethal firearm" research. To balance this normal guards would have to be trained by the chief for LTL firearms/teargas. Making a low passing grade would be nice so not all normal gaurds have LTL firearms. Or maybe it can depend on how many LTL weapon racks you have, so they wont be given out like tazzers.

give your normal guards tazers ;) Even a armed guard (on freefire that is) can be overwhelmed by a group of riotting prisoners.

This is something I have thought about too. Having rubber bullets option would be nice.

But if you have failure conditions enabled, it would be easy way out managing your prisoners without killing them.

Isn't that exactly how the game works at the moment? If you have tazers unlocked then armed guards will get a tazer (compared to regular guards who require tazer rollout to get a tazer), and will preferably use the tazer to subdue prisoners... with the option of using lethal force if the target isn't stunned.

The guards will use lethal force easy'er on "cop killer" prisoners.

There is a mod on the workshop that makes guns non-lethal.

Yes, the main game dose have tazzers but i would like to have either a LTL guard or LTL research for alot of gang/max security problems i have. For example, i like to build alot of common rooms for gangs, to make gameplay harder. So when a gang trys to claim a common room for its own. Most of the time my one normal guard on patrol get insta killed resulting in all the gang members to riot. After this happens i have to send in a force of armed gaurds with free fire on to deal with them. I dont know about you guys but i like to keep gang members alive. with LTL firearms i could send in a team with Bean bag shotguns or tear gas to resolve the problem before 15 deaths happen in one of my common rooms. :guard:

Its sad that every time a gang trys and takes a common room i have to use lethal force or 25 of my normal gaurds will get killed. PS: I dont like gang members to die i already lost 15 of 30 green gang members, do to this problem.

Welcome to reality of being prison guard in a dangerous prison.

Really, they have very strict prodecudes towards prisoners because even a small slipup might mean guard dies. Because some prisoners gets frustated to his situation being locked up rest of his life and decides to cut someone's throat with something made out of his bed for example.

You succeeded in making the game harder by enabling gang members and not guarding your gang members in a secure way. Now that the game is hard you have to shoot them, so you ask for new guards so that you can make the game easy.

The game already has guards that are less than lethal. They are called "Guard".

Ultimately if you want to achieve greater peace you need to control the density of prisoners, limit their access to weapons, and meet more of theit needs so they will not be so grumpy and want to kill each other or your guards. You are wanting instead of all those tasks to just hire better guards that can solve all of your problems. That is the opposite of wanting the game to be harder. Maybe you should turn off options that add difficulty if you don't want actual difficulty.

I'd prefer they implement a large variety of weapons you can research. Maybe have two or three classes of guards that changes their personality or something, maybe make it so you can train up guards for free.

What I hate to see is how tazing kills people. :/ If we insist of having tazers kill people, can't we have something else that doesn't like beanbags?

Im not asking to make it easy i just want crowd control tatics other then 10000 tazzers going off at once. just throwing out an idea for LTL firearms.
