Quoted for truth.
Go ahead and test it, then come back to tell us.
I never thought of that. I'll keep this post up then.
Alright, fair enough. I'll let you know what I find.
I'll admit I was being lazy and hoping someone would already know. Lol, guess that's what I get.
But frankly, this is so annoying: in the FRW, an architect would just research how far a guard (or a the type of guard that would be placed in the towers) could reliably see, and she'd find that out easily. We? We have to guess. I really grow more and more annoyed at all the guessing games forces us to do (or datamining).
Yeah, I originally posted just asking the question. Since nobody seemed to know and asked me to test it, I accepted. I didn't find definitive values, but hopefully what I found is sufficient for now. Plus, I'd hope that architects (players of this game) don't rely on single snipers for a massive prison, so these distances should suffice for most situations. Much further and you risk long delays between spotting and firing and potential escapes.

nice work
Interesting. Maybe there are some bugs right now? Because I know the guards have blind spots. I watched a guard I had placed completely "ignore" an escaping prisoner in my test prison. Or maybe it's something to do with the guard towers specifically? Because that sniper was in a tower when the prisoner escaped. So its plausible that a bug exists that allows snipers that aren't in their towers can see through walls. Or maybe MY game bugged? Who knows. It's all speculation at this point.
Thank you for sharing! Hopefully we start finding consistencies.
Thank you so much! I'm glad this post is helping people! =)
