Prisoners stuck in reception
All my new prisoners are stuck in my reception. There are enough solicitary and normal cells. There also are free guards so I don't understand why they are not placed in their cell.

Have you setup security access control on your cells perhaps... You need to make sure that you have enough cells for each security classification. Also you need to make sure that you have enough basic cells to accomodate those prisoners who do not meet the rating requirements for the nicer cells. Also screenshots would help...

I'm having a similar problem... My prisoners and guards are idle in the delivery area. I've started several new games with different settings. Though, everry time prisoners arrive, guards and prisoners stand in the deliveries area until they are freaking out from having no place to go. The guards enter the prison to open doors for maintenance, but that is it. They will no move the prisoners to any cells or holding area even if I direct them to.

I've tried to remove room assignments and re-assign, but that didn't help. Can someone please tell me if I'm missing something? I've been playing this game for quite a while and never had this problem before the last update.

Thank you!

Need screnshots from you as well. Of your complete prison if you can manage it, in normal view and deployment mode, also close ups of your cell areas in normal a deployment view and a close up of your reception area if you have one... Also need to know to if you are running, or have ever run, ANY mods for PA... Also I would be careful with the double posting - pick one discussion and stick with it...

I uploaded a public screen shot on my public profile. It happens even if I start a new prison with no mods.

Do any of the in game features cause this problem like infinite money?

No in-game features shouldn't cause any issues at all. As for your profile I can't see it from that link - are you sure your profile is set to public visibility? I was able to access the screenshot but that doesn't show me everything I need to see. I need to see your prison in its entirety (looking for an external fence around your perimeter) and your holding cell / any other cell areas or dorms that you have in both normal and deployment view (checking your security settings)...

I'm not talking about any advanced features in the game. I'm literally starting a new map making nothing but a holding cell with the basic requirements so it's a valid room, and the guards/prisoners just stand outside.

My warden will enter his room no problem when it's built, along with other staff. However, those are the only units that will auto assign like they're supposed to.

Thats probably because you don't have an external fence or you have the wrong classification set on your holding cell. You need to show the screenshots that I have requested so that I can see if this is actually the cause of your problem.

The warden and staff aren't prisoners. You need to have a fence around the prison to make it secure. Otherwise nobody is going anywhere. If you want help provide the asked for information (aka the screenshot of the whole prison).

Also. Do you have mods?

Thank you! It's been a while since I've played. I believe my error was in the fence.

Completely get rid of the mod and see if the problem continues. Mods have been breaking a lot of things so you can't address a problem properly without getting rid of it.

Glad it worked for you. :)

Its quite difficult to see from your screenshots whether your prison is actually secure.

I agree with the comments about putting a fence around the whole prison.

I personally have had prisons similar to yours where cell blocks etc. are an integral part of the external wall but its very easy to accidentally end up with a hole in the perimeter (especially during construction work) which causes the problem you are facing and obviously lets prisoners escape if it happens later in the game!

I listed a number of other problems associated with this kind of design but took them out of the post when I realised they were basically spoilers and not related to your specific problem.

Suffice to say, I strongly advise building a basic fence around the entire area left of the garbage/deliveries area before doing anything else and only including 1 large gate as a means of entry/exit. Once this is in place, you can mess around with building positioning and layout as much as you want INSIDE that fence

Hope this helps.
