I can't place a new Power station!

So my 1st Power station went past capacity (it had the max amount of capasitators plugged into it) so I went into Utilities and grabbed a power station but it wasn't letting me place one down. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Gotta be outside, make sure you have enough funds. Other than that, screenshot where you were trying to place it.

1 Power station supports 16 capacitors (4 on each side, or 5 but with 1 overlap, depends on how you count it)

Do not connect the two power stations at any point, they will short each other out.
Other than that you can have as many Substations as you want, on seperate grids

Now, that was just some general information.
To your specific problem.
Not enough money
Invalid Location. Maybe you were trying to place it in a forest area but didn't see the trees, thanks to the Utility view, or leftover tree stumps.
You are trying to put it in gang Territory (that would be possible only in a yard or common room)

Nope - not correct. I put mine INSIDE a separate building and they work everytime. Probably just meant they didn't have enough funds to enable the purchase of the unit.

It doesn't need to be outside. I always build 5x5 rooms with a sprinkler for my power stations. You were probably trying to place it on top of a water main, which you can't do.

No I was had like 200,000 dollars the problem was just me trying to put it somewhere where it would be touching another power stations wires

Well, good to know the game won't let you default to connecting it to the grid. Also, not sure how I misremembered it having to be outside, maybe that was an early dev thing I never unlearned.

I don't recall it EVER needing to be outside, unless that was a thing before Alpha 22 which is when I started playing...

well you can make some backup generators if your using some power switches (maybe the circuit isolator mod or some logic gates can be helpful, if you want to make it automatical)
